Utah State University

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Is my contribution to the Big Blue Scholarship Fund tax deductable?
A: Yes, the IRS may allow a full deduction on contributions where there is no tangible or intangible benefit to the donor (tickets, parking, priority points, etc.). Otherwise and 80% deduction is allowed when a benefit is received. Contact your financial advisor for more detailed information.

Q: How is my gift to the Big Blue Scholarship Fund used?
A: Your gift to the Big Blue Scholarship Fund is used to offset the $4.3 million in student-athlete scholarship costs. For every dollar raised by the BBSF, another dollar is available to be used for facility upgrades and general operating budget needs. With over 400 student-athletes, the growth of the Big Blue Scholarship Fund plays a critical role in the success of Utah State Athletics.

Q: Why are Big Blue priority seat donation levels increasing?
A: Utah State is entering the Mountain West Conference with one of the lowest operational budgets. In order to consistently compete for championships at the conference and national level, we need to be able to provide our programs with the resources to recruit, train, equip, and educate the next generation of Aggie student-athletes. Our championships begin with your support.

Q: How many members are there in the Big Blue Scholarship Fund?
A: There are over 1,300 active members of the Big Blue Scholarship Fund nationwide.

Q: Does my Big Blue Scholarship Fund contribution qualify me for both football and basketball tickets?
A: Your cumulative annual donation allows you to purchase both football and men's basketball tickets. Your minimum required gift amount corresponds to seat locations at Romney Stadium and the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. Members are only responsible for the highest required priority seat donation between their basketball and football tickets.

Q: My minimum required priority seat donation for basketball is $1,200 and my minimum required donation for football is $600. What does my minimum annual gift to the BBSF need to be?
A: Your minimum annual gift to retain your football and basketball seats is $1,200.

Q: Can I donate more in order to receive better parking and earn additional priority points?
A: Yes. Your parking locations for football and basketball are based on your total annual contribution to the Big Blue Scholarship Fund. Additional donations above your minimum priority seat requirement also help you earn more priority points.

Q: How does the Big Blue Scholarship Fund priority points system work?
A: The priority points system exists to reward individuals that have made a commitment to Aggie Athletics, and to ensure a fair and equitable ticket allocation to USU home games and post-season events. You can learn more about the priority points system by CLICKING HERE.

Q: How are season tickets assigned or how can I improve my season tickets?
A: Once someone has become a member of the Big Blue Scholarship Fund, this individual must maintain the same giving level or higher on an annual basis to maintain their seat location. New or additional Season tickets are assigned using the PRIORITY POINTS SYSTEM and subject to availability. Upgrade opportunities are also determined using the priority point system and are based on availability. If you wish to request a seat upgrade, please indicate request on your season ticket renewal form, or contact the USU Athletics Ticket Office by calling 1-888-U-STATE-1. You will be contacted after the renewal period with seat options that best fit your request.

Q: How do I make sure I do not lose my season tickets?
A: Your season ticket location can be retained by following these easy steps:
1) Maintain your minimum annual BBSF gift.
2) Renew your tickets with the Athletics Ticket Office prior to set deadlines.
3) Keep your email and phone number on your account up to date.

Q: How can I renew my season tickets?
A: You can renew your season tickets by contacting the USU Athletics Ticket Office at 1-888-U-STATE-1 or you can manage all of your donation and ticket needs by CREATING AN ONLINE ACCOUNT.
