• Utah State (10-5, 0-1) will continue its two-game Western Athletic Conference road trip at Louisiana Tech (13-2, 1-0) on Monday, Jan. 4 at 6 p.m. (MT). USU is 8-1 all-time against the Bulldogs, which includes a 3-1 road record.

• Utah State went 1-1 last week as it defeated Western Oregon, 78-42, and lost at New Mexico State, 55-52. Against the Wolves, senior guard Jared Quayle had a game-high 18 points, while junior forward Tai Wesley scored 14 points, grabbed six rebounds and had a season-high four blocked shots. Junior guard Tyler Newbold recorded his first career double-double with 11 points and a career-high 11 rebounds, and sophomore forward Brady Jardine scored a career-high 11 points off the bench. USU shot 46.4 percent for the game (26-56), including 37.0 percent from three-point range (10-27) and 80.0 percent at the free throw line. WOU shot 34.6 percent (18-52), including 22.2 percent from behind the arc (4-18) and 50.0 percent at the charity stripe (2-4). Against NMSU, Wesley scored 14 points to go along with nine rebounds for USU, while Newbold added 12 points and four boards. USU shot 47.9 percent overall (23-48), but was just .23.1 percent from three-point range (3-13) and 60.0 percent at the free throw line (3-5). NMSU shot 42.9 percent (21-49), was 37.5 percent from behind the arc (6-16) and 70.0 percent at the charity stripe (7-10).

• Utah State (8-5, 0-0) will begin Western Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, Jan. 6 at Louisiana Tech (9-3, 0-0) at 6 p.m. (MT). USU will then return home and host San Jose State (4-9, 0-0) on Saturday, Jan. 9 at 7 p.m. USU is 0-8 all-time against the Lady Techsters and 5-4 all-time against the Spartans.

• Utah State went 2-0 at home last week as it defeated Utah Valley, 63-45, and UNLV, 78-70. Against the Wolverines, junior guard LaCale Pringle-Buchanan tied her career-high with 14 points and freshman guard Devyn Christensen scored a career-high 12 points. Senior center Lydia Whitehead added 10 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots, and junior guard Amber White scored 10 points to go along with four rebounds and four assists. The Aggies shot 43.1 percent (22-of-51) from the field, hitting 6-of-16 (.375) from three-point range. Utah State was also 13-of-19 (.684) at the free throw line. Utah Valley shot 15-of-45 (.333), including 2-of-5 (.400) behind the arc and the Wolverines were 13-of-22 (.591) at the charity stripe. Against the Rebels, senior guard Tahara Williams scored a career-high 18 points and Pringle-Buchanan also scored 18 points for a new career-high as well. Whitehead added 14 points and nine boards in the game, while White scored 13 points. Utah State shot 35.3 percent (24-68) from the field, 7-of-18 (.389) behind the three-point arc and were 23-of-30 (.767) at the free throw line. UNLV shot 50.0 percent overall (24-48, including 60.0 percent from three-point range (6-10) and 76.2 percent at the free throw line (16-21).
