Fri., Jan. 11 --- SAN JOSE STATE, 7 p.m. (KMYU)
• Utah State men's basketball (13-1, 4-0) will host San Jose State (8-6, 3-1) on Friday, Jan. 11 in a game that will be televised regionally on KMYU at 7 p.m. USU is 49-21 all-time against the Spartans, including a 29-4 home record.

• Utah State posted a 3-0 record last week with a road win at Texas State (81-57) and home wins against Seattle (75-66) and Idaho (82-75 OT). Against the Bobcats, junior guard Preston Medlin scored 21 points, while fellow junior guard/forward Spencer Butterfield had career-highs with 18 points and nine assists, to go along with six rebounds. Junior center Jarred Shaw also scored in double-figures with 17 points. USU finished the game shooting 51.7 percent from the field (30-58), including 42.3 percent from three-point range (11-26) and 62.5 percent at the free throw line (10-16). TSU shot 37.3 percent from the field (22-59), including 22.7 percent from three (5-22) and 66.7 percent at the line (8-12). Against the Redhawks, senior forward Kyisean Reed posted his second double-double of the season and third of his career with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Medlin scored 18 points. Freshman guard Marcel Davis added 13 points and seven assists. USU shot 43.1 percent (25-58) in the game, including 33.3 percent from three-point range (6-18) and 82.6 percent at the free throw line (19-23). SU shot 46.4 percent (26-56), including 41.7 percent from behind the arc (10-24) and 44.4 percent at the charity stripe (4-9). Against the Vandals, Medlin scored 22 points to go along with seven rebounds, Reed added 17 points and Davis scored 14 points. Shaw added his fifth double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Butterfield scored 11 points and had five assists. USU shot 41.5 percent (27-65) overall, including 25.0 percent from three (4-16) and 72.7 percent at the line (24-33). UI finished the game shooting 48.3 percent (29-60), including 33.3 percent from behind the arc (8-24) and 50.0 percent at the charity stripe (9-18).

• Utah State gymnastics (0-0, 0-0) begins its 2013 season on Saturday, Jan. 12 with a dual at BYU at 1 p.m. The match will be televised live on BYUtv. USU returns nine letterwinners to go along with six freshmen from last year's team that finished with a 5-16 overall record and 1-3 WAC mark. Utah State placed fifth at the 2012 WAC Championships and three Aggies competed at the NCAA Regionals in the all-around.

• Utah State women's basketball (6-9, 3-1) will play at San Jose State (4-11, 1-3) on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 8 p.m. (MT). USU is 11-4 all-time against the Spartans.

• Utah State posted a 2-1 record last week with an 82-69 home win against Texas State, a 71-68 loss at Seattle in overtime, and a 91-85 road win at Idaho. Against the Bobcats, senior guard Jenna Johnson had a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while fellow senior guard Devyn Christensen also scored 19 points. Freshman guard Makenlee Williams added 14 points and 12 rebounds for her first career double-double, while junior guard Jennifer Schlott scored 11 points and dished out a career-high nine assists. USU shot 41.8 percent (28-67) overall, including 40.0 percent from three-point range (10-25) and 84.2 percent at the free throw line (16-19). TSU shot 35.8 percent (24-67) from the field, 34.6 percent from behind the arc (9-26) and 52.2 percent at the charity stripe (12-23). Against the Redhawks, Schlott scored a career-high 32 points and added a career-best six steals, while Johnson posted another double-double with 15 points and 10 boards. USU shot 34.3 percent (23-67) in the game, including 12.5 percent from three (3-24) and 86.4 percent at the line (19-22). SU shot 48.2 percent (27-56), including 25.0 percent from three-point range (2-8) and 51.7 percent at the free throw line (15-29). Against the Vandals, Christensen scored 25 points and Williams added 21, while Johnson posted her third double-double of the week and her fifth of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Schlott added 11 points and six assists. USU shot 47.7 percent (31-65) overall, including 50.0 percent from three-point range (13-26) and 76.2 percent at the free throw line (16-21). UI shot 41.3 percent (31-75), including 38.5 percent from three (15-39) and 66.7 percent at the line (8-12).

• Utah State men's tennis (0-0, 0-0) will begin its 2013 season with a match at BYU on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 12 p.m. USU played in four open tournaments during the fall season and was led by senior Sven Poslusny who had a 6-1 singles record. Other Aggies who competed in the fall included juniors Brandon Nielsen, Fredrik Peterson, Matt Thatcher and Andrew Whiting, sophomores Tanner Dance, Matt Sweet and Curran Wearmouth, and freshman Zeno Kastelic.
