MEN'S BASKETBALL

Wed., Jan. 15 --- COLORADO STATE, 7 p.m.
Sat., Jan. 18 --- at Boise State, 7 p.m.
• Utah State men's basketball (11-4, 1-2) will continue Mountain West play this week with a home game against Colorado State (11-6, 2-2) on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 7 p.m., and a road game at Boise State (11-5, 1-2) on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. USU is 52-35 all-time against the Rams including a 15-5 home record, and 28-8 all-time against the Broncos including an 8-7 road record.

Last Week
L, 54-62 --- at Nevada
• Utah State lost its only game of the week at Nevada, 62-54. Senior center Jarred Shaw scored 19 points and added eight rebounds, while sophomore forward Kyle Davis had nine points and nine rebounds. USU finished the game shooting a season-low 31.3 percent from the field (21-67), including just 12.5 percent from three-point range (2-16) and 71.4 percent at the free throw line (10-14). UN shot 41.8 percent (23-55), including 27.8 percent from three (5-18) and 61.1 percent at the line (11-18).

• Utah State gymnastics (1-0, 0-0) continues its 2014 season with a dual meet at Southern Utah (0-3) on Friday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m.

Last Week
W, 191.750-191.650 --- at Iowa
• Utah State won its season-opening meet for the first time since 2007 with a 191.750-191.650 victory at Iowa last weekend. Overall, Utah State scored a 48.700 on vault, 47.750 on bars, 47.275 on beam and 48.025 on floor, while Iowa notched a 48.275 on vault, 47.950 on bars, 47.975 on beam and 47.750 on floor, for a total of 191.950 prior to its 0.300 deduction following a video review at the end of the meet. In all-around action, freshman Bailey McIntire made her collegiate debut notching a 38.750, securing a second-place finish. Junior Sarah Landes earned a 38.175 giving her the third-place spot. McIntire was the only Aggie to come away with an event win, finishing first on floor with a 9.850. McIntire also shared a second-place finish on vault with sophomore teammate Miranda Kerr as they both notched a 9.775. Senior Paige Jones claimed third on bars with a 9.700, while sophomore McKinzey Martinez tied for second-place on floor with a 9.725.

• Utah State women's basketball (8-5, 2-0) will continue Mountain West play this week with a road game at Colorado State (11-4, 3-1) on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 7 p.m., and a home game against Boise State (6-8, 1-2) on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. USU is 9-10 all-time against the Rams and 8-16 all-time against the Broncos.

L, 72-76 --- NEVADA
• Utah State lost its only game of the week at home to Nevada, 76-72. Senior guard Jennifer Schlott had a game-high 22 points, while junior center Franny Vaaulu scored 18 points to go along with eight rebounds, while sophomore guard/forward Stephanie Bairstow had a career-high 13 points. USU finished the game shooting 41.2 percent (28-68), including 20.0 percent from three-point range (3-15) and 81.3 percent at the free throw line (13-16). UN shot 36.9 percent (24-65), including 16.7 percent from behind the arc (2-12) and 81.3 percent at the charity stripe (26-32).

• Utah State men's tennis (0-1, 0-0) will continue its 2014 season with three matches next week. USU will begin the week with its home opener against Idaho State (0-0) on Monday, Jan. 20 at 11 a.m. at the Sports Academy & Racquet Club, followed by a pair of road matches versus Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (0-0) in Las Cruces, N.M. on Friday, Jan. 24 at 1 p.m. (MT) and at New Mexico State (0-0) on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 11 a.m.

Last Week
L, 3-4 --- at BYU
• Utah State began its 2014 spring season with a 4-3 loss at No. 45 BYU last weekend. In singles play, senior Fredrik Peterson posted a three-sets win at No. 2 singles (5-6, 6-4, 6-5), junior Marcus Fritz posted a straight sets win at No. 3 singles (6-2, 6-3), and junior Matt Sweet won in three-sets at No. 4 singles (5-6, 6-3, 6-5). Other Aggies who competed against the Cougars include senior Andrew Whiting, junior Sean Levesque, and freshmen Dennis Baumgartner and Tomas Cosmai.

Sat., Jan. 18 --- at New Mexico State, All Day
• Utah State's indoor track & field teams will begin its 2014 season at the Lobo Collegiate Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., on Saturday, Jan. 18. Last season, the Aggie men placed third at the Western Athletic Confernce Indoor Championships, while the Aggie women placed seventh. Overall, the Aggie men won the WAC Indoor Championship three times (2008, 2010, 2011), while the Aggie women won the 2012 WAC Indoor Championships.
