MEN'S BASKETBALL

This Week
Thur., Jan. 17 --- at New Mexico State, 7 p.m. (KMYU)
Sat., Jan. 19 --- at Denver, 4:30 p.m. (ROOT Sports)
• Utah State men's basketball (14-1, 5-0) will continue Western Athletic Conference play this week with a pair of road games at New Mexico State (10-8, 4-2) on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. (MT), and at Denver (9-7, 5-1) on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 4:30 p.m. (MT). The game against NMSU will be televised live on KMYU, while the game against DU will be televised live on ROOT Sports. USU is 35-29 all-time against NMSU, including a 10-19 road record, and 54-35 all-time against DU, including a 13-9 record in known road games.

Last Week
W, 66-60 --- SAN JOSE STATE
• Utah State won its only game of the week with a 66-60 home victory against San Jose State. Senior guard Preston Medlin scored a season-high 25 points to go along with five assists, while junior center Jarred Shaw notched his sixth double-double of the season and second in a row with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Junior guard/forward Spencer Butterfield had 13 points and senior forward Kyisean Reed finished the game with 10 points, eight rebounds and a career-high tying four blocked shots. USU finished the game shooting just 47.7 percent (21-44), including 33.3 percent from three-point range (4-12), and 80.0 percent at the free throw line (20-25). SJSU shot 35.9 percent from the floor (23-64), 18.2 percent from three-point range (2-11) and 85.7 percent at the free throw line (12-14).

• Utah State gymnastics (0-1, 0-0) continues its 2013 season on Friday, Jan. 18 with a dual at Boise State at 7 p.m.

Last Week
L, 189.425-194.075 --- at BYU
• Utah State lost its season opener at BYU, 194.075-189.425. The Aggies recorded a 48.550 on bars, a 48.150 on vault, 44.950 on floor and a 47.775 on beam and the Cougars posted a 48.400 on vault, 48.950 on bars, 48.100 on beam and 48.425 on floor. In all-around competition, junior Paige Jones took second-place with a total of 38.800. Sophomore Sarah Landes was in third with a 38.650. Freshmen Destiny Ezell and Hayley Sanzotti made their Aggie debuts in the all-around, finishing fourth and fifth with scores of 37.950 and 37.850, respectively. Jones finished tied for first on vault with a 9.750, as well as tying for second on floor with a 9.775. Landes finished third on bars with a 9.800.

• Utah State women's basketball (6-10, 3-2) will continue Western Athletic Conference play this week with a pair of home games against New Mexico State (9-7, 3-3) on Thursday, Jan. 17 and against Denver (8-9, 3-3) on Saturday, Jan. 19 with both games beginning at 7 p.m. USU is 15-18 all-time against NMSU and will be facing DU for the first time ever.

Last Week
L, 80-103 --- at San Jose State
• Utah State lost its only game of the week at San Jose State, 103-80. Freshman guard Makenlee Williams led five Aggies in double-figures with 19 points, while junior guard Jennifer Schlott had 16 points. Senior guard Jenna Johnson recorded her fourth-straight double-double and sixth of the year with 14 points and a career-high 12 rebounds, while fellow senior guard Devyn Christensen added 13 points, six rebounds and four steals. Sophomore guard Elise Nelson finished the game with 10 points and a career-high nine rebounds. USU finished the game shooting 29.9 percent (26-87), including 25.8 percent from three-point range (8-31) and 69.0 percent at the free throw line (20-29). SJSU shot 44.4 percent (32-72), including 31.6 percent from three (6-19) and 82.5 percent at the line (33-40).

• Utah State men's tennis (0-1, 0-0) will continue its 2013 season with a match at Idaho State on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 1 p.m.

Last Week
L, 0-7 --- at BYU
• Utah State lost its season-opening match at BYU, 7-0. Senior Sven Poslusny teamed with sophomore Marcus Fritz to post an 8-7 (8-6) win at No. 1 doubles for USU's only win. Other Aggies to compete in the match include juniors Brandon Nielsen and Fredrik Peterson, and sophomores Sean Levesque, Matt Sweet and Curran Wearmouth.

INDOOR TRACK & FIELD

Fri.-Sat., Jan. 18-19 --- at New Mexico Invitational, All Day
• Utah State's indoor track and field teams will begin its 2013 season on Friday, Jan. 18 when it travels to Albuquerque, N.M. to compete in the University of New Mexico hosted Cherry & Silver Invitational. The Aggie men have won two of the past three Western Athletic Conference Indoor Championships (2010, 2011), while the Aggie women won the 2012 WAC Indoor Championships.

Fri., Jan. 18 --- at Idaho State, 1 p.m.
• Utah State women's tennis (0-0, 0-0) will begin its 2013 season with a match at Idaho State on Friday, Jan. 18 at 1 p.m. USU played in three open tournaments during the fall season and was led by sophomore McKenzie Davis who had a 9-2 singles record. Other Aggies who competed in the fall included seniors Julie Tukuafu, Kristina Voytsekhovich and Jaci West, sophomore Hillary Hays, and freshmen Kallie Sperry, Amber Stuhlmann and Ashley Stuhlmann.
