• Utah State (14-5, 4-0) will hit the road for the first time since Dec. 8 as it plays a pair Western Athletic Conference games at Louisiana Tech (3-13, 0-4) on Thursday, Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. (MT) and at New Mexico State (10-10, 4-1) on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 4 p.m. The game against LTU will be televised regionally by ESPN, while its game against NMSU will be televised nationally on ESPN2. Utah State is riding a season-high nine-game winning streak and has won 11 of its last 12 games after starting the year with a 3-4 record. USU is 4-1 all-time against Louisiana Tech and 29-24 all-time against New Mexico State. Last week, Utah State recorded a pair of home wins against Boise State (82-78) and Idaho (79-64). Against BSU, senior All-American guard Jaycee Carroll scored a game-high 29 points, while junior forward Gary Wilkinson tied his season-high with 21 points. In the game, USU shot 54.0 percent as compared to 48.3 percent for the Broncos. Against Idaho, freshman forward Tai Wesley scored a game-high 23 points and Carroll added 21, while Wilkinson recorded his second double-double of the season with 15 points and a season-high 13 rebounds. In the game, USU shot 60.4 percent from the field and held the Vandals to 44.6 percent shooting. On the year, Utah State is led by Carroll who is averaging 21.6 points and 6.0 rebounds, while shooting 53.5 percent from the field, 51.7 percent from three-point range and 93.6 percent from the free throw line. Two other players are scoring in double-figures for the Aggies as Wilkinson is averaging 12.6 points and 6.1 rebounds and DuCharme is averaging 10.4 points and 5.6 rebounds. Overall, USU is scoring 72.4 points and shooting 50.0 percent from the field, 38.9 percent from three-point range and 78.6 percent from the free throw line, while its opponents are scoring 66.6 points and shooting 43.4 percent from the field, 36.3 percent from three-point range and 70.6 percent from the free throw line.

• Utah State's men's and women's indoor track and field teams will travel to Pullman, Wash., this weekend to compete in the Cougar Indoor team meet. Last week, USU competed in two meets as it hosted the Wilson Motor Invitational on Friday and traveled to Pocatello, Idaho on Saturday to compete in the Snake River Invitational. In all, USU had 17 individual winners during the weekend, including junior Krista Larson who took top honors in the weight throw both days. Junior Nick Karren was also a two-time winner as he took first in the 400m (49.11) on Friday and then won the 60m hurdles (8.23) on Saturday, recording the sixth-fastest time in school history in that event.

• Utah State (6-11, 2-3) will continue Western Athletic Conference play this week with a pair of home games against New Mexico State (13-4, 3-1) on Thursday, Jan. 24 and Louisiana Tech (8-9, 2-2) on Saturday, Jan. 26. Both games will begin at 7 p.m. in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. USU is 8-14 all-time against New Mexico State and 0-4 all-time against Louisiana Tech. Last week, Utah State lost a pair of road games at Boise State (85-77) and at Idaho (70-64 ot). Against the Broncos, senior forward Jamelah Brown scored a career-high 24 points, while fellow senior forward Jenny Gross had 17 points and 10 rebounds. Junior guard Danyelle Snelgro added 13 points, while senior guard Taylor Richards had 10 points. USU shot 43.1 percent in the game as compared to 45.8 percent for BSU. Against Idaho, Snelgro led the Aggies with 14 points, while junior post player Ndoumbe Diop had a season-high 12 points. Richards added 13 points, while Brown had 11 and Gross 10. USU shot just 32.1 percent from the field against the Vandals, while IU shot 43.4 percent. On the season, Snelgro is leading the team with 10.5 points, while Richards is averaging 10.2 points. Overall, Utah State is scoring 62.5 points and shooting 38.0 percent from the field, 33.9 percent from three-point range and 73.6 percent from the free throw line, while its opponents are scoring 64.5 points and shooting 43.5 percent from the field, 35.5 percent from three-point range and 67.9 percent from the free throw line.

GYMNASTICS

• Utah State's gymnastics team (0-2) will compete in two meets this week as it hosts Boise State on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum before traveling to Fullerton, Calif., to face Cal State Fullerton on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 3 p.m. (MT). USU and BSU have already met once this year with the Broncos recording a 192.625-187.925 win in both teams season opener on Jan. 11 in Boise. Last week, Utah State lost its home opener to Sacramento State, 192.575-191.050 as it scored a 48.425 on the vault, a 47.325 on the bars, a 48.000 on the beam and a 47.300 on the floor exercise. Junior Nicki Felley led USU as she placed third in the all-around with a score of 38.025. Utah State also claimed top honors on three of the four individual events as freshmen Chelsea Marquardt and Jasmine Minion tied for first on the vault with scores of 9.800, while freshman Nicole Simoneau took top honors on the bars with a score of 9.825, and senior Megan Tschida won the floor exercise with a season-high score of 9.850. The Aggies top finisher on beam was Felley who placed fifth with a score of 9.675.

• Utah State's men's tennis team (1-2) will return to action this week as it plays at Utah on Saturday, Jan. 26. Last week, USU recorded a 1-1 record as it lost at Boise State, 6-1, and then defeated Montana State, 4-3. Freshman Jakob Asplund led USU with a 1-1 record at No. 1 singles as he defeated MSU's Kyle McDonald in straight sets (7-6, 6-1) and lost to BSU's Steve Robertson in three sets (6-3, 3-6, 11-9). In doubles competition, Asplund teamed with Jonas Tyden to defeat the Bobcats duo of Jakub Dybala and McDonald, 8-1, at No. 1. Other Aggies who recorded wins during the weekend included sophomore Matt Searle at No. 6 singles against Boise State (6-3, 7-5), sophomore Oscar Ericsson at No. 2 singles against Montana State (6-3, 6-2), and senior Mike Banks at No. 5 singles against MSU (6-3, 1-6, 6-3).

• Utah State's women's tennis team (0-1) began its 2008 Spring season with a 7-0 loss at No. 28 Brigham Young on Friday. Competing for USU during the match was junior Bridgette Strickland, sophomores Brianna Harris and Britney Watts, and freshmen Jennifer Johnson, Taylor Perry and Hailey Swenson. The Aggies will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 2 in a dual at Utah.
