• Utah State men's basketball (19-9, 9-7) will conclude its regular season with a pair of Western Athletic Conference home games this weekend against Texas State (9-20, 4-12) on Thursday, Mar. 7 and against UTSA (8-20, 3-13) on Saturday, Mar. 9. Both games will begin at 7 p.m., and be televised regionally on KMYU. USU is 1-0 all-time against both the Bobcats and Mavericks.

• Utah State posted a 0-2 road record last week with an 84-61 loss at No. 25 Louisiana Tech to go along with 61-46 road loss at UT Arlington. Against the Bulldogs, sophomore forward Ben Clifford tied his career-high with 14 points to go along with nine rebounds, while junior center Jarred Shaw also had 14 points to go along with eight rebounds. Junior guard TeNale Roland also scored in double-figures and finished with 12 points, while grabbing a career-high seven rebounds. USU finished the game shooting 35.7 percent (20-56), including 18.8 percent from three-point range (3-16) and 81.8 percent at the free throw line (18-22). LTU shot 50.0 percent (31-62), including 52.4 percent from three (11-21) and 57.9 percent at the line (11-19). Against the Mavericks, freshman guard Marcel Davis had 15 points, Roland added 12 points and six rebounds, and Shaw finished with 11 points and eight boards. USU shot 30.4 percent (14-46), including 31.6 percent from three-point range (6-19) and 66.7 percent at the free throw line (12-18). UTA shot 40.7 percent (22-54), including 45.8 percent from behind the arc (11-24) and 50.0 percent at the charity stripe (6-12).

• Utah State men's tennis (4-7, 0-1) will continue its 2013 season on Saturday, Mar. 23 when it hosts Lamar at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club at 11 a.m.

• Utah State posted a 1-1 record last week as it lost at Montana State (4-3) and won against Montana State-Billings (5-0). Against the Bobcats, senior Sven Poslusny posted a straight sets win at No. 1 singles (6-3, 6-4) and sophomore Sean Levesque won in straight sets at No. 5 singles (6-4, 7-6). In doubles play, junior Fredrik Peterson teamed with Levesque for a 9-8 win at the second position, while junior Andrew Whiting and sophomore Curran Wearmouth notched an 8-4 win at the third position as USU claimed the doubles point. Against the Yellowjackets, Poslusny posted a straight sets win at No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-3), Peterson won in straight sets at No. 2 singles (6-2, 6-3), sophomore Matt Sweet won in straight sets at No. 3 singles (7-5, 6-2) and Wearmouth won in straight sets at No. 4 singles (7-5, 6-4). USU also won the doubles point as Poslusny and Sweet posted a 9-7 win at the first position, Peterson and Levesque notched a 9-8 win at the second position, and Wearmouth and Whiting won 9-7 at the third position.

• Utah State women's basketball (16-11, 13-3) will conclude its regular season with a pair of Western Athletic Conference road games at Texas State (9-18, 3-13) on Thursday, Mar. 7 and at UTSA (14-13. 8-8) on Saturday, Mar. 9 with both contests beginning at 6 p.m. (MT). USU is 2-0 all-time against the Bobcats and 1-0 all-time against the Roadrunners.

• Utah State posted a 2-0 home record last week with wins against Louisiana Tech (70-56) and UT Arlington (81-57). Against the Lady Techsters, junior guard Jennifer Schlott had 19 points and a career-high tying six steals, while senior guard Devny Christensen had 16 points and six assists. Fellow senior guard Jenna Johnson scored 13 points to go along with seven rebounds, and senior guard Cristal Turner had 10 points and a career-high tying four blocked shots. USU shot 44.6 percent (25-56), including 28.6 percent from three-point range (4-14) and 72.7 percent at the free throw line (16-22). LTU shot 30.9 percent (21-68), including just 8.3 percent from behind the arc (1-12) and 72.2 percent at the line (13-18). Against the Mavericks, Christensen scored 24 points and Johnson added 17 points and a career-high 14 rebounds for her eighth double-double of the season and ninth of her career. Schlott finished the game with 12 points and seven assists, and freshman guard Makenlee Williams added 11 points. USU shot 38.9 percent (28-72), including 33.3 percent from three-point range (10-30) and 88.2 percent at the free throw line (15-17). UTA shot 36.7 percent, including 30.0 percent from three (3-10) and 66.7 percent at the line (10-15).

• Utah State women's tennis (2-4, 0-0) will continue its 2013 season this weekend with matches at UNLV on Friday, Mar. 8 at 10 a.m. (MT), and against UC Riverside in Las Vegas, Nev., on Saturday, Mar. 9 at 10 a.m. (MT).

• Utah State lost both of its matches last week as it fell at Arizona State and at Arizona, 7-0. Against the Sun Devils, sophomore McKenzie Davis and senior Jaci West posted an 8-6 win at the first doubles position for USU's only victory of the weekend. Other Aggies to compete against ASU and UA include seniors Kristina Voytsekhovich and Julie Tukuafu, sophomore Hillary Hays and freshman Kallie Sperry.

• Utah State's outdoor track and field teams will begin its 2013 season at the Texas Relays from Wednesday through Saturday, Mar. 27-30. USU will also have individuals competing at the Utah Valley Collegiate on Friday, Mar. 29 and at the Stanford Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Mar. 29-30.

NTS --- at Washington Qualifier
• Senior distance runner Alex Litzsinger led a strong performance from the Utah State women and men's indoor track & field teams as she broke the school record in the women's 3,000m (9:41.22) to place fifth overall at the Washington hosted UW Final Qualifier. Freshman Tylee Newman followed Litzsinger close behind as she placed sixth with the third-fastest time in school history (9:44.61) in the women's 3,000m. On the men's side, freshman Briton Page and senior Tyler Killpack finished first and second in the men's 800m for the second-straight week with times of 1:50.36 and 1:50.85, respectively. Furthermore, Page now ranks third all-time in Aggie history as Killpack now ranks fifth in the school's top 10 list.

• Utah State gymnastics (3-9, 0-4) continues its 2013 season on Monday, March 4 in a dual meet against BYU (8-7) at 7 p.m.

Last Week
L, 193.400-193.800 --- at Sacramento State
• Utah State scored a 193.400 in a Western Athletic Conference dual loss at Sacramento State last week as the Hornets scored a 193.800. Utah State scored a 48.200 on bars, 48.375 on vault, 48.350 on floor and 48.475 on beam. Sacramento State notched a 48.825 on vault, 48.800 on bars, 47.425 on beam and 48.750 on floor for its winning total of 193.800. Sophomore Sarah Landes and junior Paige Jones competed in the all-around competition as Jones finished sharing the third-place spot with a score of 38.275. Landes finished second with a 39.075. Sacramento State's Kaliah McCartney took home the all-around title with a 39.225. Along with her all-around finish, Landes walked away with her second vault title of the season, earning a 9.825. She also finished in second-place on beam with a 9.800 and tied for third on bars with a 9.750. Jones finished tied for second on vault with a 9.800. Freshman Stefanie Daley and sophomore Susie Miller shared the third-place spot on beam with a 9.750.

• Utah State men's golf will continue its 2013 spring season on Thursday, March 28 when it travels to Arroyo Grande, Calif., to compete in the Cal Poly hosted Cypress Ridge Match Play Championships. The tournament will conclude on Friday, Mar. 29.

6th/9 --- at Cal State Fullerton Invitational
• Junior Tanner Higham carded a final round 1-under 71 to move into a tie for sixth-place with a 3-over 219 (75-73-71) at the Cal State Fullerton hosted Folino Invitational last week. Higham was tied for 13th after 36-holes before tying for the best final round of the day with his 1-over 71. Utah State also performed well as it carded the third-best team score of the final round with an 8-over 296 to move from eighth into sixth-place in the nine-team field with a 36-over 910 (309-305-296). During its final round, USU shot nine shots better than it did the previous day and 13 shots better than it did during its opening round. Long Beach State took the team title with an 8-over 872 (294-289-289), while Loyola Marymount's Tyler Torano (75-67-72) and Sacramento State's Ryan Williams (69-70-75) tied for medalist honors at 2-under 214. Freshman Seokwon Jeon tied for 20th for Utah State with a 12-over 228 (78-78-72), while freshman Reed Platke tied for 22nd with a 13-over 229 (77-79-73). Senior Brendan Dennis tied for 42nd with a 22-over 238 (82-76-80) and fellow senior Kris Sayer tied for 45th with a 25-over 241 (79-78-84).

• Utah State softball (0-20) will continue its 2013 season on Wednesday, March 13 when it plays a doubleheader at Weber State beginning at 2 p.m. USU will then travel to Boise, Idaho over the weekend to compete in the Boise State hosted SpringHill Suites Invitational. USU will begin the tournament against the host Broncos on Friday, Mar. 15 at 2 p.m. On Saturday, Mar. 16, USU will face Idaho State at 10 a.m. and Portland State at 12 p.m. And on Sunday, Mar. 17, USU will conclude the tournament against Portland State and Idaho State at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., respectively.

• Utah State went 0-5 last week at the San Diego Classic as it lost to New Mexico (4-2), San Diego (4-3), San Diego State (4-1), Fresno State (9-6) and Boise State (2-0). Sophomore infielder Nicole Arata hit .500 (7-14) and had three runs batted in, three runs scored, and hit one home run to go along with two bases on balls. Her best game of the weekend was against Fresno State as she went 1-for-2 at the plate with three RBI, two walks and a run scored on a two-run home run, which is the first of her career.
