Fri., April 2 --- at BYU Cougar Invitational, All Day
Utah State's outdoor track and field teams will return to action on Friday, April 2 when it travels to Provo, Utah to compete in the BYU Cougar Invitational.
NTS --- at Stanford Invitational
Utah State sent five distance runners to the Stanford Invitational last weekend and all five Aggie athletes set new personal bests, highlighted by a new school record by sophomore Kim Quinn in the 10,000m. Quinn set a new school record in the 10,000m, clocking in at 35:29.82 to finish in 22nd-place. Quinn broke the previous record by Lida Ripplinger of 36:03.04 set in 2005. It is the first time this season that Quinn has competed in the 10,000m. Senior Erin Stratton won the 3,000m steeplechase in 10:29.31 for a new personal record. Stratton also bettered her third-best time in USU records, and also improved on her previous PR of 10:38.18 by nine seconds. Sophomore Brian McKenna finished in 21st-place in the 10,000m at 29:48.83, which is the forth-best time in Utah State history. Fellow sophomore Daniel Howell clocked in at 30:15.22, good for 25th and junior Nick Bolinder tabbed 33rd in 31:33.82. All three men set new personal records in the event.

Utah State's men's golf team will return to action on Monday, April 5 when it travels to Scottsdale, Ariz., to compete in the Wyoming Cowboy Classic
T5th/8 --- at Lamkin Grip Match Championship, Arroyo Grande, Calif.
Utah State finished with a 1-2 record at the Cal Poly hosted Lamkin Grip Match Play Championship held at the Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande, Calif., as it defeated Utah Valley, 3&2, in its final match of the championship. Utah State began the tournament with a 3&2 loss to eventual tournament champion Sacramento State, followed by another 3&2 loss to LaVerne. Junior Chanse Godderidge led Utah State as he won all three of his matches, while fellow junior Benjamin Schilleman went 2-1 during the tournament. Seniors Thad Truman and Brandon Broadhead each posted one win. Godderidge began the tournament with a 5&4 win against Sacramento State, followed by a 7&6 win against LaVerne and a 1 up win against Utah Valley. Schilleman won his first two matches by scores of 4&3 and 3&2, before losing his final match against UVU, 1 down. Truman and Broadhead lifted the Aggies to the 3&2 win against Utah Valley as Truman posted a 3&2 victory, while Broadhead won 2&1. Freshman Tanner Higham also competed for USU and lost all three of his matches.

Utah State's women's tennis team (6-5) will return to action on Thursday, April 1 when it plays at Santa Clara. USU will also play a pair of matches on Friday, April 2 against Hawai'i and San Jose State in San Jose, Calif.

Utah State went 0-2 last week as it lost a pair of matches to Dartmouth (7-0) and Cal Poly (6-1) in San Luis Obispo, Calif. Freshman Kristina Voytsekhovich was the only Aggie to win a match during the weekend as she posted a straight sets win (6-2, 7-5) at No. 3 three singles against Cal Poly. Other Aggies to compete during the weekend include junior Hailey Swenson at No. 1 singles, freshman Jaclyn West at No. 2 singles, sophomore Monica Abella at No. 4 singles, junior Taylor Perry at No. 5 singles and senior Britney Watts at No. 6 singles.

Utah State's men's tennis team (10-7) will travel to Honolulu this week to play four matches as it faces Hawai'i Pacific on Thursday, Idaho on Friday, and Fresno State and Hawai'i on Saturday.

Utah State went 1-2 last week as it lost at home to New Mexico State (6-1), defeated Eastern Washington (6-1) and lost at Nevada (5-2). Against NMSU, freshman Sven Poslusny was the only Aggie to win a match as he recorded a straight sets win at No. 2 singles (6-0, 6-3). Against EWU, junior Jakob Asplund won in three sets at No. 1 singles (1-6, 6-1, 6-3), junior Bryan Marchant won in straight sets at No. 3 singles (6-3, 6-4), senior Amit Maharaj won in straight sets at No. 4 singles (6-2, 6-1), junior Alex Thatcher won in three sets at No. 5 singles (4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (11-9)), and junior Nikita Ryashchenko won in straight sets at No. 6 singles (6-3, 6-2). Maharaj and Poslusny also posted an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles, while Ryashchenko and Thatcher won at No. 3 doubles, 9-7. Against UN, Marchant was the only Aggie to win a singles match as he posted a straight sets win at the No. 3 spot (7-6, 6-3). USU also won the doubles point as Asplund and Marchant won at No. 1 doubles (8-6), Maharaj and Poslusny won at No. 2 doubles (8-6), and Ryashchenko and Thatcher won at No. 3 doubles (8-6).

Utah State's gymnastics team (4-18, 0-5) will have select members of its team compete as individuals at the 2010 NCAA North Central Regional in Salt Lake City on Saturday, April 10.
3rd, 193.675 --- at WAC Championships, Fullerton, Calif.
Utah State finished in third-place at the Western Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday, tying the 2007 team for the best finish in its five years in the league. USU notched a team total of 193.675, the Aggies' second-best score of the season, as well as posting a season-best 48.650 on vault, second-best scores of 48.575 on bars and 48.200 on beam, and fourth-best score of 48.250 on floor. Southern Utah edged out two-time defending champion Boise State by .1, 195.800-195.700, while Utah State's 193.675 edged San Jose State's 193.600. Host Cal State Fullerton was fourth with a 193.175, while Sacramento State ended in sixth with a 192.650. Senior Heather Heinrich earned second-team all-WAC honors by finishing fourth in the all-around with a 38.950, her third year in a row earning all-conference honors. Sophomore Rebecca Holliday also earned second-team all-WAC accolades by finishing tied for fifth on bars with a 9.800 and tying for sixth on beam with a new season-high and career-best tying 9.825. Junior Jackie Dillon was the Aggies' other top 10 finisher tying for seventh on bars with a 9.775, a new season-high.

Utah State's softball team (12-13, 1-2) will play seven games this week, including its first home series of the season. USU will begin the week with a doubleheader at Utah Valley (10-15) on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m., followed by a doubleheader at Brigham Young (20-7) on Wednesday at 3 p.m. The Aggies will then host Western Athletic Conference foe Nevada (14-14, 1-2) in a three-game series on Friday and Saturday. The two teams will play a single game at 3 p.m. on Friday, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Senior outfielder Nicole Rupp-Tindall hit a solo home run in the top of the ninth against Louisiana Tech Sunday to give Utah State a 4-3 win in the series finale. USU lost the first two games of the series by scores of 6-4 and 10-4. Rupp-Tindall began the series by going 1-for-4 at the plate with one RBI and one run scored, followed by a 2-for-2 performance in the second game with two runs scored. She then went 3-for-5 in the third game, which included the game-winning home run. For the week, Rupp-Tindall hit .545 (6-11) with two RBI and four runs scored.
