LOGAN, Utah - Utah State fans will have a plethora of free events to attend this week as football, softball and men’s tennis will host a combined nine events between the three sports.
League-leading softball will open the week, hosting No. 22 BYU on Wednesday at LaRee and LeGrand Johnson Field. First pitch on Wednesday is scheduled for 4 p.m., with free popcorn for the first 50 fans. Students can also get some Utah State swag with the first 50 receiving a free T-shirt and the first 100 receiving a free hot dog, provided by the HURD.
Men’s tennis, recently ranked No. 39 in the nation and having won six in a row, will host the next event on the calendar, facing Saint Mary’s at 2 p.m., at the Utah State tennis complex on Thursday. The teams will play the match at the Sports Academy & Racquet Club in the event of inclement weather. Men’s tennis will host a doubleheader on Friday, welcoming Weber State at 11 a.m., before facing Air Force at 4 p.m., in a Mountain West match.
Softball also opens a MW series against Fresno State on Friday, facing the Bulldogs at 3 p.m. The homestand continues against Fresno State on Saturday at 3:30 p.m., and wraps up on Sunday at noon. Kids will have the chance to run the bases following the game on Friday and several promotions will be running on Saturday for the annual Pink Game, promoting breast cancer awareness and cancer research. The first 100 fans will receive a free USU Softball T-shirt, with the pink theme continuing on the field as the Aggies will also wear pink jerseys. During the game, fans can purchase $2 hot dogs and are then encouraged to stick around after the game for post-game autographs. Sunday’s game will feature softball bingo, with winners receiving various Utah State Softball prizes.
Football will host its annual Spring Game, presented by Jack’s Tire and Oil, on Saturday, with the scrimmage set to begin at 2 p.m. Gates at Maverik Stadium will open at 1 p.m., and fans are encouraged to take advantage of free interactive inflatables, face painting and balloon artists prior to the event. Fans should arrive early to collect a limited release football poster for the 2017 season.
Men’s tennis will wrap up the week, hosting New Mexico on Sunday afternoon at 1:30. The match against the Lobos will coincide with Senior Day as the Aggies will honor their seniors: Daniel Echeverry and Jack Swindells. Regardless of weather, Sunday’s match will be played at the Sports Academy & Racquet Club.
