Utah State's Bill Garren Named WAC's Video Coordinator Of The Year

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State Video Coordinator Bill Garren has been voted as the 2009-10 Western Athletic Conference Video Coordinator of the Year, the Collegiate Sports Video Association (CSVA) announced recently.

Garren was selected for the award by the other video coordinators in the league. Garren will now join the other Division I conference winners in the running to receive the Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year Award. The awards will be presented during the 16th annual Collegiate Sports Video Conference, May 10-13 in Schaumburg, Ill.

"Bill does a fantastic job as a one-man full-time operation, and produces a high quality result. He has a behind-the-scenes job that requires a lot of hard work and goes unnoticed by many, many people. For him to be recognized by his peers as the best in the WAC is a tremendous honor," said Dale Mildenberger, USU Senior Associate Athletic Director for Support Services.

In his fifth year as the Director of Video Operations for the USU athletic department, Garren is responsible for managing all aspects of athletic video and editing within the athletics department which includes training and supervising a staff of student assistants to shoot all the football practices and games along with men and women's basketball games. His responsibilities also include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the video room and assisting with the video needs of other sports. Garren also provides technical support and training for coaches and support staff.

Garren and his wife Melinda have four children, Maia, Ellie, Milly, and Tyler.
