• Utah State's outdoor track and field teams will host its only outdoor meet of the season this weekend in the Mark Faldmo Invitational on Saturday with field events beginning at 10 a.m.

• Utah State finished action at the UCLA Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational Saturday with senior Nick Karren winning the invite-only flight of the 400m hurdles with a season-best time of 51.30. Junior Lindsey Spencer finished in third-place in the invite flight of the discus with a distance of 50.81m (166-08), which is a new career-best mark. Junior Mike Pyrtle also earned a third-place finish in the 100m invite flight with a time of 10.54, which is also a new career-best. Pyrtle's mark is also the 10th best in school history. Junior Clint Silcock tabbed a fourth-place finish clearing 2.11m (6-11.00) in the high jump. In the shut put invite flight, sophomore Joe Canavan had a distance of 16.65m (54-07.50), also landing him in fourth-place. In action at the Utah Classic, junior Nate Llyod finished second in the 5,000m clocking in at 16:35.04. Junior Alex DuPlesis threw for a distance of 56.80m (186-04.25) in the javelin for a second-place finish. In the high jump, freshman Eric Follett cleared 1.95 (6-04.75) tabbing second-place. In women's action at Utah, freshman long jumper Kelsey Keller finished in sixth-place with a career-best mark of 4.85 (15-10.25).

• Utah State's men's golf team will return to action on Friday, April 23 when it travels to Provo, Utah to compete in the PING Cougar Classic.

13th/24 --- at Wyoming Cowboy Classic, Scottsdale, Ariz.
• Freshman Tanner Higham shot a six-over par 216 to lead Utah State's men's golf team to a 13th-place finish at Wyoming Cowboy Classic held last week in Scottsdale, Ariz. USU finished 13th out of 24 teams with a 36-over 876 as it carded rounds of 284, 298 and 294. Higham tied for 25th overall as he began the tournament with a one-over 71, followed by a two-over 72 during the second round and finished with a three-over 73 for his six-over 216. Junior Benjamin Schilleman tied for 48th with a 10-over 220 (73-73-74), while junior Chanse Godderidge tied for 60th with a 12-over 222 (70-77-75). Fellow junior Tyson McFarland tied for 72nd as he shot a 14-over 224 (70-77-77) and senior Thad Truman tied for 101st with a 20-over 230 (82-76-72).

• Utah State's women's tennis team (8-10, 1-4) will begin its week with a match at Weber State on Wednesday, April 14 at 1:30 p.m., and then travel to Boise, Idaho for three matches during the weekend. USU will begin its weekend against Boise State on Friday, April 16 at 1:30 p.m., followed by a match against Idaho at 5:30 p.m. USU will then conclude its week on Saturday with a match against Louisiana Tech at 2:30 p.m.

• Utah State went 1-3 last week as it defeated Northern Arizona (4-3) and lost to Fresno State (4-1), New Mexico State (4-2) and Nevada (6-1). Against NAU, junior Hailey Swenson notched a three sets win at No. 1 singles (6-0, 2-6, 6-3), freshman Jaclyn West won in three sets at No. 2 singles (5-7, 6-2, 6-3) and freshman Kristina Voytsekhovich posted a straight sets win at No. 3 singles (6-4, 6-2). USU also won the doubles point as Swenson and West notched an 8-5 win at the number one spot, and junior Taylor Perry teamed with Voytsekhovich for an 8-5 win at the number two spot. Against Fresno State, Voytsekhovich scored the only point for USU at No. 3 singles in straight sets (7-6, 3-1, uf). Against NMSU, Swenson won in straight sets at No. 1 singles (7-5, 6-4), while Voytsekhovich won at No. 3 singles in three sets (1-6, 6-2, 6-2). Against Nevada, West scored USU's only point at No. 2 singles (5-2, ret.). Other Aggies to compete during the week include sophomore Monica Abella and senior Britney Watts.

Wed., April 21 --- IDAHO STATE, 12 p.m.
• Utah State's men's tennis team (10-10, 0-3) will return to action on Wednesday, April 21 when it hosts Idaho State at Noon at the Sports Academy & Racquet Club in its final regular season match.

L, 1-6 --- at Weber State
• Utah State lost at Weber State, 6-1, in its only match of the week. Senior Amit Maharaj scored USU's only point as he notched a straight sets win at No. 4 singles (6-4, 7-5). Junior Jakob Asplund lost at No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-4), freshman Sven Poslusny lost at No. 2 singles (6-4, 6-4), junior Bryan Marchant lost at No. 3 singles (7-5, 7-5), junior Nikita Ryashchenko lost at No. 5 singles (6-3, 6-3), and junior Alex Thatcher lost in three sets at No. 6 singles (7-5, 5-7, 10-5). USU also lost all three of its doubles matches at Asplund and Marchant fell, 8-4, at the number one spot, Maharaj and Poslusny lost, 9-7, at the number two spot, and Ryashchenko and Thatcher fell, 8-6, at the number three spot.

• Utah State's three gymnasts had solid finishes Saturday at the NCAA North Central Regional Championships, hosted by the University of Utah. Senior Heather Heinrich was 14th in the all-around, one spot ahead of junior Lyndsie Boone, while fellow junior Jackie Dillon was 35th on bars. Heinrich notched a 38.675 in the all-around and Boone tallied a 38.550. Dillon recorded a 9.525 on bars. Heinrich tied her career high on vault with a 9.850, finishing tied for 12th, the highest place of the night for USU. Boone was 31st with a 9.750. On bars, Boone was tied for 23rd with a season-best 9.725. Dillon tied for 35th with a 9.525, while Heinrich recorded a 9.325 to place 41st. Heinrich tied for 24th on beam with a 9.750, while Boone was tied for 28th posting a 9.725. On floor, Heinrich notched a 9.750 to tie for 26th and Boone registered a 9.350 to tie for 40th.

• Utah State's softball team (14-20, 3-7) will begin its week with a doubleheader at Utah (17-20) on Tuesday, April 13 at 2 p.m., followed by a three-game series at Boise State (15-25, 4-5) on Friday and Saturday, April 16-17. USU and BSU will play a single game on Friday at 3 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.

• Senior catcher Simone Hubbard was one of Utah State's top hitters last week as USU dropped a doubleheader to No. 25 Hawai'i by scores of 12-4 (6) and 18-8, and then was swept in a three-game series at Fresno State by scores of 4-1, 7-3 and 4-1. In the second game against the first-place Rainbow Wahine, the senior was 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI. It was her first multi-home run game of the season. She also added hits in the first and third games against second-place Fresno State. For the week, Hubbard hit .385 (5-for-13) with three RBI and two runs scored, while catching four of the five games.
