Utah State's Bill Garren Named WAC's Video Coordinator Of The Year For Third-Straight Year

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State Video Coordinator Bill Garren has been voted as the 2011-12 Western Athletic Conference Video Coordinator of the Year, the Collegiate Sports Video Association (CSVA) announced this week, marking the third-straight year that Garren has earned the honor.

Garren was selected for the award by the other video coordinators in the conference. Garren will now join the other Division I conference winners in the running to receive the Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year Award. The awards will be presented during the 18th annual Collegiate Sports Video Conference, May 14-17 in Indianapolis, Ind.

"Year after year, Bill produces video productions and game video that are recognized by his peers as superior. His selection as WAC Video Coordinator of the Year for the third consecutive time is proof of this," said Dale Mildenberger, USU Senior Associate Athletic Director for Support Services.

Garren, who is in his seventh year as the Director of Video Operations for the USU athletic department, is responsible for managing all aspects of athletic video and editing within USU's athletics department which includes training and supervising a staff of student assistants to shoot all the football practices and games along with men and women's basketball games. His responsibilities also include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the video room and assisting with the video needs of all of USU's 16 intercollegiate sports.

Additionally, Garren also provides technical support and training for coaches and support staff using the latest video technology available in Webb Electronics' Advantage editing system. During the construction of the three-story, state-of-the-art Jim and Carol Laub Athletics-Academics Complex, Garren also assisted in the design and technical architecture of the video room and the facility.

Garren and his wife Melinda have four children, Maia, Ellie, Milly, and Tyler.
