This Week
Wed.-Sat., May 12-15 --- at WAC Championships, Ruston, La., All Day • Utah State's track and field teams will continue its outdoor season this week as it travels to Ruston, La., to compete in the 2010 Western Athletic Conference Championships from Wednesday through Saturday, May 12-15. The Aggie men are the defending outdoor WAC champions, while the Aggie women finished fourth last year.

NTS --- at Weber State Twilight Meet
• Utah State track and field had a strong showing Wednesday at the Wildcat Twilight Invitational including capturing four event titles by four juniors. Winning titles for the Aggies was junior Shannon Prince (47.06m, 154-05) in the women's discus, junior Nick Bolinder, (15:10.90) in the 5,000m, junior Clint Silcock (2.16m, 7-01.00) in the high jump and junior Alex DuPlesis, (54.70m, 179-05.50) in the javelin. USU collected a total of 14 top-three finishes in Ogden. Doing well on the women's side was freshman Hollie Bosworth who finished third in the 400m clocking at 59.28. Fellow freshman Amber Thompson tabbed second in the pole vault clearing 3.20m (10-06.00). Sophomore Spela Hus collected a second-place finish in the shot put with a distance of 14.17m (46-05.75). USU women's 4x100m relay team collected third with a time of 47.15. On the men's side, senior Casey Parker was second in the high jump behind Silcock, clearing 2.01m (6-07.25), while sophomore Jaymin Vickars was second in the javelin behind DuPlesis with a mark of 54.33m (178-03.00). Juniors Hunter Nelson and Todd Griffith were second and third in the 1,500m with times of 4:05.76 and 4:12.22, respectively, while sophomore Nate Lloyd was second in the 3,000m steeplechase, clocking a 10:39.31 time. Junior Eric Larson was third in the 800m in 1:57.59. Senior Nick Karren and junior Armahd Lewis were both third in the 100m (11.10) and 200m (22.35), respectively. Sophomores Daniel Cruz and Joe Canavan were also both third, with Cruz throwing the discus 48.07m (157-08.50), while Canavan posted a mark of 16.55m (54-03.50) in the shot put.

• Utah State's softball team (20-29, 5-14) will play its final game of the 2010 season on Monday, May 10 when it hosts Brigham Young (40-11) in a single game at 3 p.m.

• Redshirt sophomore Kelley Kaneshiro (Auburn, Wash.) set the Utah State single-season record for home runs during the week as the Aggies lost a doubleheader at Utah (7-8, 3-8), swept a doubleheader against Weber State (9-3, 11-2), and was swept in a three-game series at New Mexico State (4-3, 1-9, 2-12). Kaneshiro tied the single-season school record for home runs with her 11th against Utah, and then broke the record later in the week against NMSU. For the week, she hit .412 (7-for-17) with seven hits, six RBI and three runs scored.

• Utah State's men's golf team finished in eighth-place at the Club Glove Western Athletic Conference Championship held at the Rio Secco Golf Club in Henderson, Nev., with a three-day total of 910 (299-293-318). Junior Tyson McFarland led Utah State during the final 18 holes with a 3-over 75 to finish tied for 25th with an 8-over 224 (76-73-75). Junior Chanse Godderidge finished in 30th-place with a 12-over 228 (76-72-80), while junior Benjamin Schilleman tied for 34th with a 14-over 230 (70-77-83). Senior Thad Truman tied for 38th overall with a 17-over 233 (79-72-82), and freshman Tanner Higham finished 42nd with an 18-over 234 (77-76-81). The 2010 WAC Championship concludes the spring season for Utah State.
