Utah State's outdoor track & field teams will continue its season next weekend as qualifying individuals will compete in the first round of the NCAA Championships, which will be held from Thursday through Saturday, May 28-30 in Austin, Texas. USU sent 18 student-athletes to the first round of last year's NCAA Championships.

Utah State's men and women's track & field teams captured six individual event titles, while nine individuals earned first-team all-Mountain West honors a total of 16 times as the Aggie men finished fourth out of seven teams and the Aggie women placed fourth out of 11 teams at the 2015 Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field Championships held last weekend in San Diego, Calif. Leading the Aggie women was senior Chari Hawkins who was named the Women's Outstanding Performer of the Meet for the third time in her career as she won the heptathlon (5,622 points) and high jump (1.76m/5-09.25), and finished second in the long jump (5.92m/19-05.25). Junior Parker Bluth led the Aggie men as he was named the Men's Outstanding Performer of the Meet as he won both the 100m (10.34) and 200m (20.52) and was a member of the winning 4x400m relay team (3:07.48) that also included junior Tanner Hunt, junior Cole Lambourne and freshman Clay Lambourne. Bluth's time in the 200m is a school record. Other individual winners for USU included Cole Lambourne in the 400m (46.31) and Clay Lambourne in the 800m (1:48.93). Aggies who finished second in their respective events included Hunt in the 400m (47.41), senior Eric Shellhorn in the 3,000m steeplechase (8:55.20) and junior Maci Bingham in the hammer (61.30m/201-01). Aggies who finished third in their respective events were sophomore Colby Wilson in the 3,000m steeplechase (8:57.76) and junior Kevin Allen in the discus (54.03m/177-03).
