• Utah State's outdoor track & field teams will continue its season this weekend as 20 qualifying individuals will compete in the first round of the NCAA Championships, which will be held from Thursday through Saturday, May 26-28 in Lawrence, Kan.

• Utah State competed at the 2016 Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Clovis, Calif., where the Aggie men finished second with 176 points and the women placed sixth with 59.50 points. The USU men captured five total titles, including four individual crowns, highlighted by junior AJ Boully's stunning victory in the 400-meter hurdles. The women took home two titles courtesy of senior Maci Bingham in the hammer and junior Mia Estes in the javelin. Boully stumbled over the third hurdle he encountered, but managed to stay on his feet and overcame Boise State's Fernando Martinez at the last possible second to cross the finish line first with a time of 51.14 seconds. Junior Devin Wright captured his first-ever MW title in the men's javelin with a throw of 62.17m (204-00). Seniors Parker Bluth and Nic Bowens finished first and second, respectively, in the 100m with times of 10.20 and 10.28. That duo placed second and third in the 200m with times of 20.73 and ran legs in the 4x100m relay team that took second with a time of 40.09. Boully and sophomore Brady Martin also ran legs on that relay race. The Aggies also had a 1-2 finish in the 800m as sophomore Clay Lambourne backed up his 2016 MW Indoor Championships title in the event by capturing the outdoor crown with a time of 1:49.69. Fellow sophomore Jordan Beutler placed second with a time of 1:50.60. The 4x400m relay team consisting of Bluth, seniors Tanner Hunt and Cole Lambourne, and Clay Lambourne, finished first with a time of 3:11.08. It was the third straight year Utah State has captured the crown in the event. Cole Lambourne (47.54) and Hunt (48.12) placed second and fourth in the 400m, while Martin finished fifth (48.62). Sophomore Dillon Maggard placed second in the 5,000m with a personal-best time of 14:08.07, which now ranks second all-time in school history, and finished third in the 1,500m with a time of 3:51.57. Senior Kevin Allen took third in the discus with a throw of 54.88m (180-01), narrowly missing his personal best. Leaugen Fray had a strong showing in his first-ever MW Outdoor Championships. The freshman from Ontario, Canada, placed second in the high jump with a mark of 2.08m (6-09.75) and fourth in the long jump with a leap of 7.25m (23-09.50). Sophomore Skyler Duke placed fourth in the high jump with a personal-best leap of 2.05m (6-08.75). Sophomore David Hirschmann finished fourth in the shot put with a heave of 17.31m (56-09.50), while junior Colby Wilson placed third in the finals of the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 9:11.69. On the women's side, senior Maci Bingham captured the women's hammer title with a throw of 60.34m (197-11), while junior Mia Estes garnered top honors in the javelin with a throw of 49.40m (162-01). Fellow throwers Olivia Moriconi, a sophomore, placed fourth in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 14.98m (49-01.75) and Brenn Flint, a freshman, took fifth with a throw of 14.49m (47-06.50). Flint also placed fifth in the discus with a personal-best throw of 49.69m (163-00). Junior Tori Parkinson placed fifth in the steeplechase with a time of 10:30.40.
