LOGAN, Utah - Utah State University Vice President and Director of Athletics John Hartwell announced Tuesday that six members of the athletics department have been promoted.
Mike Bair has been promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Equipment. Bair is entering his 20th year as the director of equipment operations. Bair services all 16 sports with athletics equipment, uniforms and clothing, while also supervising two full-time staff members as well as student managers for many of the sports.
Michelle Bowman will now serve as the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance. Entering her third year at Utah State, Bowman is responsible for ensuring USU's compliance with NCAA and Mountain West Conference rules. She works directly with coaches and student-athletes to administer financial aid and is the main compliance contact for women's basketball, soccer, softball, and men's and women's track & field.
Reed Capener has been promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Event Operations and Facilities. He is in his third season in event operations, but also served as a student worker, graduate assistant and interim marketing co-director during his time as a student and graduate student. Capener's duties include creating and developing game-day operations and event management, as well as facility management for the department.
Amber Rae Childers has been named the Assistant Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Academic Services. Childers is in her seventh year at Utah State. She is the lead sport counselor for football and volleyball. In addition to her responsibilities as a sport counselor, she oversees the Life Skills program for student-athletes.
Entering his 11th year in the department, Bill Garren will serve as the Assistant Athletics Director for Video Operations. Garren is responsible for managing all aspects of athletic video and editing within the athletics department, which includes training and supervising a staff of student assistants to shoot all the football practices and games along with men's and women's basketball games. His responsibilities also include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the video room and assisting with the video streaming needs for the department.
Jeremy Winn has been promoted to Associate Athletics Director for Development/Major Gifts after spending four years as an Assistant Athletics Director. In his role, Winn focuses on major gifts and specific fundraising projects for Aggie Athletics.
