LOGAN, Utah - The Western Athletic Conference announced its winter all-academic teams on Tuesday and Utah State had 61 student-athletes recognized from the sports of gymnastics, men's and women's basketball, and men's and women's indoor track & field to lead the league.
Of its 61 academic all-WAC selections, Utah State had 31 student-athletes from women's indoor track honored, along with 17 from men's indoor track, five from women's basketball, and four from both gymnastics and men's basketball.
Utah State's men's and women's track programs led all WAC schools with its 48 combined honorees, as did men's basketball who accounted for half of the student-athletes honored in that sport with its four honorees. Women's basketball also faired well compared to the rest of the WAC as its five honorees were tied for the second-most in the league.
