LOGAN, Utah - Former Utah State quarterback Leon Jackson III has been named the Assistant Ticket Manager within the Utah State University Athletics Department it was announced Wednesday. Jackson previously spent the 2012-13 academic year as the Director of Event Operations for USU Athletics.
"I would like to thank my colleagues for affording my family and I the opportunity to continue working for this prestigious institution," said Jackson. "From my years as a student-athlete to now, Logan has become my home and it is a big part of who I am. I only hope to continue to assist in creating innovative ways to set Utah State apart."
Jackson III was a four-year letterwinner for Utah State from 2004-07 and still ranks third all-time in school history in career completion percentage (.582), eighth in career pass completions (382), ninth in career pass attempts (656), ninth in total offense for a career (5,035 yards) and 10th in career passing yards (4,221). As a senior in 2007, Jackson III completed 65.4 percent of his passes (151-of-231) to rank second all-time at USU for a single-season.
Jackson III also earned second-team all-Western Athletic Conference honors as punter during his senior season in 2007 as he punted 62 times for 2,558 yards (41.3 ypk) with a long of 62 and 16 punts downed inside the 20-yardline. As a freshman in 2004, Jackson III punted 40 times for 1,694 yards for an average of 42.3 yards per punt, which still ranks tied for 10th all-time at USU for a single-season.
Following his collegiate career, Jackson III completed a five-month internship in Washington, D.C., on Capital Hill. He then spent two years playing professional football oversees as he played for the Aix-en Provence Argonautes in 2009 and for the Innsbruck Raiders in 2010, helping the Arognautes to the French semifinals and the Raiders to the Austria Football League Championship and European semifinals. Jackson then spent the 2010 season as an offensive administrative assistant on the USU football team for then head coach Gary Andersen.
A native of South Central Los Angeles, Calif., Jackson III graduated from Utah State University with a bachelor's degree in political science in 2007. He also received his masters of education from USU in 2012.
Jackson III is married to the former Nicki Felley who was a four-year letterwinner on USU's gymnastics team and the couple is expecting their first child in July.
