LOGAN, Utah - Ryan McLane has been named an Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and Promotions within Utah State Athletics. McLane, who previously spent two years at USU, returns to Logan after a three-year stint at Virginia Commonwealth University.
"We're ecstatic to have Ryan back on campus," said Deputy Athletics Director/Senior Woman Administrator Jana Doggett. "He is going to be a great addition to our marketing department and we are thrilled to have him back in Logan."
While in Richmond, McLane served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Promotions, where he oversaw marketing and promotional efforts for all 16 of VCU's sports. He developed strategic marketing, advertising and sales campaigns that resulted in 48 consecutive sold-out men’s basketball games and increased average attendance for several other programs.
McLane assisted in department-wide rebranding efforts for the Rams, introducing new logos and brand identity during the 2013-14 campaign. Additionally, he managed the athletics student support group and the department's kids club program and supervised the spirit squad coaches and pep band director.
Prior to his time at VCU, McLane spent two years at Utah State as the Director for Athletic Marketing and Promotions. In this role, he managed and implemented all advertising and promotional efforts for the USU Athletics Department along with directing all home athletic events and maintaining the department’s website and social media platforms. During his first stint at USU, McLane helped the department through the rebranding process in 2012 and oversaw marketing efforts for the school's move to the Mountain West Conference.
"I'm extremely excited to return to Utah State University and Cache Valley. I look forward to being a part of the continued upward trajectory of USU Athletics and working to enhance the experience for our student-athletes and supporters," McLane said. "I'd like to thank Jana Doggett and John Hartwell for this great opportunity. I'm thrilled to once again join the Aggie Family."
McLane is a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., and graduated from Robert Morris University in 2009 with bachelor's degrees in business administration. He then completed a master's degree in education at Oklahoma in 2011.
