LOGAN, Utah - Derick Stoulil has been named an Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and Promotions within the Utah State University Athletics Department it was announced Thursday by Executive Associate Athletics Director for External Operations Jana Doggett. Stoulil will officially begin his duties at USU on July 29.
In his role, Stoulil is responsible for all marketing campaigns and promotions of USU's 16 intercollegiate sports, along with maintaining the department's web site. Stoulil replaces Ryan McLane who resigned to take a similar position at Virginia Commonwealth University.
"We're very excited to have Derick be part of the Aggie team," said Doggett. "We look forward to having his experience and energy working for us in the USU Athletics Department."
Previously, Stoulil spent three years at Purdue University as Director of Fan Experience and Assistant Director of Promotions and Advertising. While at Purdue, he was responsible for marketing and promoting the Boilermakers 18 intercollegiate sports. In his position, he set numerous ticket sales, attendance and revenue records for the volleyball program and oversaw the marketing and promotions plan for the new baseball stadium, resulting in record season ticket, attendance and revenue numbers during the 2013 campaign.
"I can't wait to get to Logan and get started at Utah State," said Stoulil. "There has never been a better time to be involved with Utah State Athletics with its recent accomplishments along with joining the Mountain West. I look forward to meeting everyone in the Logan and Utah State communities and help build upon the previous successes and be a part of taking it to the next level."
Stoulil also spent two years in the athletics department at Fresno State, where he worked with the baseball, volleyball and women's basketball programs. He began his career in collegiate athletics as a marketing and promotions graduate assistant at Western Illinois for two years. Prior to that, he worked two years for the Clinton LumberKings minor league baseball team
A native of Pocahontas, Iowa, Stoulil earned his bachelor's degree in accounting and marketing: sales and advertising emphasis from the University of Northern Iowa in 2004 and a master's degree in sport management from Western Illinois University in 2008.
