Samuel Philhower Added to Utah State Athletic Compliance Staff

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State athletics has announced the addition of Samuel Philhower to the compliance staff, serving as a compliance coordinator.

"I'm happy to be here and really excited to be a part of the USU team," Philhower said. "I'm thankful to the senior staff for giving me the opportunity and hopefully I can make myself an asset to our student athletes, coaches, staff and university as a whole."

Philhower is joining the Aggies by way of Sonoma State in Rohnert Park, Calif., where he was a member of the compliance team for the Seawolves. Philhower finished his tenure at SSU as the senior compliance and eligibility coordinator, overseeing the National Letter of Intent program and athletic aid offers for incoming student athletes.

Prior to SSU, Philhower was a member of the compliance office at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC), working with campus liaisons to ensure rules were followed according to NCAA, WAC and UMKC regulations.

Philhower began his career in the Colorado justice system, serving as a criminal investigator for the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment and as a law clerk for the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office.

Philhower earned his undergraduate degree from William & Mary and was awarded his juris doctorate from the Rutgers School of Law. Additionally, Philhower attended law courses through Leiden University in the Netherlands.

Of note, Philhower graduated high school in Geneva, Switzerland, and is fluent in French, in addition to knowledge of Italian, Spanish and Czech.
