Sat, Sept. 19 --- at Texas A&M, 5 p.m.
• Utah State's football team returns to action this week with a game at Texas A&M on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 5 p.m. (MT). It will be the first-ever meeting between the two teams. The game is not televised.

Last Week
L, 17-35 --- at No. 19 Utah
• Matt Asiata rushed for a career-high 156 yards and 19th-ranked Utah amassed 519 yards of total offense as the Utes extended its nation-long winning streak to 15 straight games with a 35-17 win against Utah State in both teams season-opener. Sophomore RB Robert Turbin led USU's new spread-offense with a career-high 148 rushing yards, including a school-record 96-yard scamper in the second quarter. The 96-yard run tops the previous school record of 95 yards by Percy Hanson in 1920, the Aggies' longest individual record. Turbin's 148 rushing yards are the most for a USU individual since James Samuals's 159 yards vs. Troy State in 2002. USU ended the game with 221 yards rushing and 342 total yards. Utah State managed just 120 yards of total offense in the second-half, but limited the Utes to 210 yards. Senior S James Brindley led the Aggies with 14 tackles in the game, one shy of his career-high, while sophomore DE Bobby Wagner posted a career-high 12 stops.

• Utah State will travel to Kent, Ohio this weekend to participate in the Kent State Mizuno Open. USU will begin the tournament on Friday, Sept. 18 with a pair of matches against Butler and Kent State at Noon and 5 p.m. (MT), respectively, before concluding the tournament on Saturday, Sept. 19 against Robert Morris at 9 a.m. (MT). USU will be facing all three opponents for the first-time ever.

• Utah State went 4-1 last week as it lost to Utah (3-2) and defeated Idaho State (3-0) at home, followed by victories against The Citadel (3-0), Wyoming (3-1) and Northern Arizona (3-1) to win the Fiesta Bowl Tournament. Against the Utes, sophomore outside hitter Liz McArthur had 15 kills, while junior libero Christine Morrill had a season-high 28 digs. USU hit .126 (53-31-175) in the match as compared to a .237 (62-24-160) hitting percentage for Utah. Against the Bengals, McArthur had 14 kills as USU hit .327 (43-9-104) overall and held ISU to a .113 (29-17-106) hitting percentage. Junior outside hitter Lori Wilson-Beckstrom had a career-high 15 kills to lead USU against The Citadel as USU hit .440 (43-10-75) in the match and limited The Citadel to a .030 (19-17-66) hitting percentage. McArthur had 15 kills to lead USU against Wyoming as the Aggies hit .223 (44-17-121) and the Cowgirls hit .183 (53-29-131). Against NAU, McArthur posted a career-high 23 kills as USU hit .290 (61-21-138) overall as compared to a .187 (48-22-139) hitting percentage for the Lumberjacks.

• Utah State will play a pair of road matches this week at Washington on Friday, Sept. 18 at 8 p.m. (MT), and at Seattle University on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 2 p.m. (MT). USU is 0-1 all-time against UW, while its match against Seattle will be the first-ever between the two schools.

• Utah State went 1-1 on the road last week as it lost at UT San Antonio, 1-0, and defeated Houston Baptist, 5-1. Against the Huskies, USU got a pair of goals from junior forward Shantel Flanary, to go along with an assist. Other Aggies to score in the match include sophomore midfielder Ellen Larsen, sophomore forward Danielle Shorts and junior midfielder Stefani Shiozaki.

Sat., Sept. 19 --- at Montana State Open, 9 a.m.
• Utah State's men's and women's cross country teams will return to action this weekend as it travels to Bozeman, Mont., to compete in the Montana State Open on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 9 a.m.

Last Week
W-1st/3; M-1st/2 --- UTAH STATE OPEN
• Utah State men's and women's cross country swept the Utah State Open at the American West Heritage Center in its first competition of the year as sophomores Brian McKenna and Ruth Hilton both claimed individual titles. Hilton finished first for the women running the 5K course in 17:17.0, while McKenna finished first on the men's side in the 7K with a time of 21:47.9. USU sophomore Jessie Chugg finished third in the 5K in 17:23.5, while Aggie freshman Alex Litzsinger ran the course in 17:26.7 to finish fourth. Other USU finishers include senior Erin Stratton (17:43.4) in sixth, junior Justin Baugh (17:45.8) in eighth, junior Alica Holt (18:11.3) tabbing 15th, junior Kim Quinn (18:22.1) in 20th, freshman Kaylee Campbell (18:28.5) in 21st, freshman Stephanie Burt (18:34.4) took 24th, freshman Amber Rasmussen (18:44.4) took 26th, freshman Talina Nelson (18:46.3) was 28th, sophomore Amiee Haertel (19:46.8) was 39th, Julia Johnson (20:29.4) was 44th and freshman Brittni Hopkin (22:28.9) finished 48th. On the women's side, Utah State took first, while Weber State finished second and Utah was third. Other Aggie men finishers include junior Chio Lopez who was third (22:08.1), sophomore Steven Atkinson (22:11.6) was fifth, freshman Daniel Howell (22:14.5) was sixth, junior Eric Larson (22:23.5) finished seventh, freshman Kyle Moffet (22:43.3) was 12th, junior Casey Snider (23:13.1) was 17th and freshman Morgan Empey (24:06.4) finished 22nd. As a team the Aggies finished first while Weber State came in second, followed by the Utah Ski team.

Sat.-Sun., Sept. 19-20 --- at Air Force Invitational, All Day
• Utah State's golf team will compete in its first tournament of the fall season on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 19-20 when it travels to Colorado Springs, Colo., for the Falcon Invitational. Utah State returns four letterwinners from last year's team including two players that helped USU finish in fourth-place at the WAC Championship. Junior Tyson McFarland played 15 rounds last year and finished with a stroke average of 75.53, while senior Thad Truman played in 19 rounds and had an average of 78.11. Other returness include senior Brandon Broadhead and junior Benjamin Schilleman who played 14 rounds last year and had a stroke average of 76.00. Schilleman is the only current Aggie who played in last year's Falcon Invitational and was USU's second-best finisher tying for 29th overall with a four-over 220 with rounds of 76, 70 and 74.

Thur.-Sat., Sept. 17-19 --- at BYU Invitational, All Day
• Utah State's women's tennis team will begin its fall schedule this weekend in Provo, Utah at the BYU Invitational from Thursday to Saturday, Sept. 17-19. USU returns six letterwinners from last year's team that finished with a 5-20 record including junior Hailey Swenson who posted a 17-13 record in singles play. Other returnees include seniors Cady Andelin and Britney Watts, junior Taylor Perry, and sophomores Monica Abella and Carla Limon.
