Utah State's football team (2-1, 1-0 MW) will continue its 2013 season this weekend at USC (2-1, 0-1 PAC-12) on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 1:30 p.m. (MT) in a game that will be televised nationally on ABC in the west and ESPN2 in the east. USU is 0-4 all-time against the Trojans.
W, 70-6 --- WEBER STATE
Junior quarterback Chuckie Keeton threw five touchdown passes in the first half to tie his own school record for the second week in a row to lead Utah State (2-1, 1-0 MW) to a 70-6 Homecoming victory against Weber State (1-2). Utah State's 70 points rank as the sixth-most in school history and are its most since defeating New Mexico State, 76-0, in 1964, while its 63-point victory is the seventh-largest in school history and largest since its win against NMSU in 1964. Against the Wildcats, Utah State amassed a season-high 587 yards of total offense, its 14th-most in school history, while limiting WSU to 138 yards of total offense, which ranks 21st on the Aggies' fewest yards of total offense list. Keeton was 19-of-25 passing for 249 yards with the five touchdowns, matching the five touchdown tosses he threw at Air Force last week, and the third time in his career with five touchdown passes. Senior running back Joey DeMartino led the USU rushing attack with eight carries for a career-high 105 yards with a career-best three touchdowns, while junior running back Joe Hill added 12 carries for 63 yards, and senior running back Robert Marshall had a career-high 57 yards on nine carries with one touchdown. Overall, USU had nine different players carry the ball, the most since at least 1995. For the second week in a row, 10 different Aggies had a catch, led by sophomore wide receiver Bruce Natson with five catches for 35 yards, while senior wide receiver Travis Reynolds had a career-best 71 yards receiving on two catches, with 39 of them coming on a first-quarter touchdown catch. Senior tight end D.J. Tialavea had a career-best two touchdown receptions. The Aggie defense was led by junior safety Frankie Sutera with a career-high eight tackles, while redshirt-freshman linebacker Nick Vigil added a career-best seven stops. In all, 13 Aggie defenders recorded career-high tackles.

Utah State's soccer team (4-1-2) continues its 2013 season with a pair of matches this week as it plays at Utah (3-1-3) on Friday, Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m., and hosts Weber State (3-2-2) on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 1 p.m. (MT). USU is 4-10-0 all-time against the Utes and 9-5-1 all-time against the Wildcats.

Utah State posted a 0-1-1 record last week as it lost at home to No. 25 Arkansas, 3-2, in overtime and recorded a 0-0 double-overtime tie at Cal State Fullerton. Against the Razorbacks, senior forward Mari Miyashiro scored in the 36th minute and junior defender Taryn Rose scored in the 56th minute, while sophomore goalkeeper Jeannie Woller had four saves. Against the Titans, Woller posted five saves.

Utah State's volleyball team (6-4, 0-0) will continue its 2013 season this week with its first-ever Mountain West matches as it hosts Boise State (5-4, 0-0) on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m., and then plays at Boise State on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. USU is 15-18 all-time against the Broncos

Utah State posted a 2-2 record last week as it won at Weber State (3-0), and then went 1-2 at the Duke Invitational with losses to South Carolina (3-1) and Duke (3-0), and a win against Liberty (3-0). Against the Wildcats, junior middle blocker Kaitlyn VanHoff had a career-high 12 kills to go along with three blocks, while junior outside hitter Rachel Orr added 10 kills, nine digs and four blocks. USU hit .416 (47-10-89) in the match and WSU hit .099 (29-19-101). Against the Gamecocks, Orr had 13 kills and VanHoff added 11 kills and six blocks. USU hit .145 (45-23-152) in the match and USC hit .174 (57-29-161). Against the Blue Devils, Orr had seven kills and junior libero Ashlan Rogers-Court added 10 digs. USU hit .054 (22-17-92) in the match and DU hit .388 (48-10-98). And against the Flames, sophomore opposite side hitter Elle Brainard had 15 kills and Orr added 11. USU hit .463 (48-4-95) in the match and LU hit .136 (34-20-103).

Mon.-Tues., Sept. 23-24 --- at Boise State Invitational, All Day
Utah State's men's golf team will continue its 2013 fall season on Monday, Sept. 23 when it travels to Boise, Idaho to compete in the Boise State hosted Dash Thomas Memorial on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 23-24.
T-9th/16 --- at Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, Colorado Springs, Colo.
Utah State tied for ninth-place in the 16-team field Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, hosted by the U.S. Air Force Academy with a 21-over 885 after shooting an 8-over 296 during its first round, followed by a 7-over 295 in the second round and a 6-over 294 in its final round. Junior Seokwon Jeon shot a final round 4-under 68 to record his best-ever tournament finish tying for fourth-place with a 5-under 211 (70-73-68). Junior Grahm Schmaltz tied for 37th-place with a 5-over 221 (77-74-70). Senior Tanner Higham tied for 56th with a 10-over 226 (71-74-81). Freshman Eli Rogers tied for 70th at 13-over 229 (78-74-77), and sophomore Brennan Coburn finished in 85th-place at 23-over 239 (81-79-79).

Utah State's men's and women's cross country teams will continue its 2013 season on Saturday, Sept. 21 when it competes in the Montana State Invitational at 9 a.m.
M: 4/4; W:3/4 --- at Utah Valley Invitational
Utah State women's cross country sophomore Kelsey Girardelli crossed the finish line sixth to lead all Aggie harriers Friday afternoon at the Utah Valley Invitational. Girardelli finished the five-kilometer race with a time of 18:40.0 to bring home the highest finish of her collegiate career. Junior Mike Bills led the men's team with a time of 19:00.5 in the six-kilometer run, good for 16th-place. As a team, Utah State's women placed third with a score of 51, while the men's team took fourth with a score of 102. Wyoming took the top spot in both races, with the men accumulating 31 points and the women garnering a score of 40. Freshman Joanna Boyd (18:52.5) and sophomore Amanda Stoudt (18:55.6) also finished in the top 10 for the Aggie women with eighth and 10th-place finishes, respectively. Freshman Annie Orr (19:04.6) finished 13th and junior Brittany Bushman (19:14.0) placed 20th to round out the top 20 finishers on the women's side. On the men's side, freshman Erich Olschewski (19:07.2) joined Bills in the top 20 with a 19th-place finish. Freshmen Brett McAdams (19:15.6) and Austin Costley (19:19.4) rounded out the top 25 for the Aggies men with 23rd and 25th finishes, respectively.

Utah State men's tennis opens up its fall season on Friday, Sept. 20, when it travels to Ogden for the Weber State Invitational. The three-day tournament concludes on Sunday, Sept. 22. The Aggies return three seniors in Fredrik Peterson, Matt Thatcher and Andrew Whiting. Utah State also returns juniors Marcus Fritz, Sean Levesque and Curran Wearmouth, and sophomore Matt Sweet.

Utah State women's tennis begins its fall schedule this weekend as it travels to Boise, Idaho for the Jack Taylor Classic starting Friday, Sept. 20 and ending on Sunday, Sept. 22. The Aggies return juniors McKenzie Davis and Hillary Hays, along with sophomores Kallie Sperry, Amber Stuhlmann and Ashley Stuhlmann. USU also adds four freshman in Cassidy Branstine, Nini Guensler, Katie Sweet and Lexi Turley.
