This Week
Sat., Oct. 22 --- LOUISIANA TECH, 1 p.m. (Altitude)
• Utah State's football team (2-4, 0-1) will return to Western Athletic Conference action on Saturday, Oct. 22 when it hosts Louisiana Tech (2-4, 1-1) at 1 p.m. (MT). The game will be televised live on Altitude (Comcast Ch. 61). USU is 3-5 all-time against the Bulldogs including a 2-2 record at home.

Last Week
L, 21-31 --- at Fresno State
• Utah State opened the game with a 14-0 first quarter lead, but could not hold on, falling at Fresno State, 31-21, Saturday. The Aggies amassed 454 yards of total offense, including 260 on the ground, led by junior running back Robert Turbin's 145 yards rushing with one touchdown, his fifth-straight 100-yard rushing outing. Senior running back Michael Smith added 71 yards and a touchdown, to go along with 52 yards receiving and another score. Freshman quarterback Chuckie Keeton was 16-of-32 passing for 204 yards with one touchdown. Senior linebacker Bobby Wagner totaled eight tackles, his first game this season without double-digit tackles. Fellow senior linebacker Kyle Gallagher and sophomore cornerback Nevin Lawson had six stops apiece. Fresno State finished with 403 yards of total offense as it rushed for 155 yards and passed for 248.

Fri., Oct. 21 --- at Idaho, 4 p.m.
• Utah State's soccer team (11-4-1, 3-1-0) will continue Western Athletic Conference play this week with a road match at Idaho (6-8-3, 2-2-1) on Friday, Oct. 21 at 4 p.m. (MT). USU is 11-1-0 all-time against the Vandals.

Last Week
W, 2-0 --- at Nevada
• Utah State posted a 2-0 road win at Nevada in its only match of the week. Junior defender Natalie Norris scored USU's first goal of the match in the 70th minute, and sophomore midfielder Kendra Pemberton scored the Aggies second goal in the 86th minute. Senior goalkeeper Molli Merrill and the Aggie defense registered their sixth shutout of the season and second in WAC action. Merril ended the match with three saves.

• Utah State's volleyball team (9-11, 4-3) will continue Western Athletic Conference play this week with a pair of road matches at San Jose State (7-13, 2-5) on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 8 p.m. (MT) and at No. 8 Hawai'i (17-1, 7-0) on Friday, Oct. 21 at 10 p.m. (MT). USU is 12-17 all-time against the Spartans and 9-41 all-time against the Rainbow Wahine.

W, 3-0 --- NEVADA
• Utah State won both of its matches last week defeating Fresno State (3-1) and Nevada (3-0) at home. Against the Bulldogs, senior outside hitter Liz McArthur had 16 kills and 10 digs for her 10th double-double of the season and 22nd of her career. Junior opposite side hitter Shay Sorensen added 10 kills and a career-high eight digs, while junior Laurel Bodily had 16 digs. USU finished the match with a .188 (46-20-138) hitting percentage and FS hit .048 (47-39-165). Against the Wolf Pack, McArthur had 18 kills and hit a career-high .680 (18-1-25) in the match, while Sorensen finished with 10 kills and seven digs. Junior middle blocker Alyssa Everett added five kills and hit a career-high .833 (5-0-6), and freshman middle blocker Kaitlyn VanHoff had five kills, four digs and three blocks. USU hit a season-high .432 (46-8-88) in the match and UN hit .198 (40-20-101).

• Utah State's men's and women's cross country teams will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 29 when it travels to Honolulu to compete in the Western Athletic Conference Championships.

M: 4/32; W: 14/34 --- at Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival
• Senior Brian McKenna led the Utah State men's cross country team to a fourth-place finish at the University of Arkansas hosted Chile Pepper Festival on Saturday as he finished 15th out of 288 runners with a time of 30:09.5. USU's women took home a 14th-place finish with sophomore Hannah Williams leading the charge as she crossed the finish line in 81st-place (22:16.1). The men ran a 10-kilometer race while the women competed in a six-kilometer race. Other Aggie men finishing in the top 100 included sophomore Kyle McKenna (35th, 30:37.4) along with seniors Daniel Howell (40th, 30:47.0), Hunter Nelson (58th, 31:07.7), Eric Larson (64th, 31:12.9) and Nick Bolinder (94th, 31:50.1). Junior Kaylee Campbell finished the women's race with a time of 22:21.3, which was good enough for 85th-place. Joining Williams and Campbell in the top 100 was senior Jessie Chugg (92nd, 22:30.1) and redshirt junior Ruth Hilton (99th, 22:33.6). Other finishers for the Aggie men include sophomore Devin Lang (121st, 32:10.0), and freshmen Eric Shellhorn (127th, 32:15.2), Austin Neuner, (159th, 32:56.5) and Corey Kimzey (230th, 34:58.9). Other finishers for the Aggie women include junior Stephanie Burt (122nd, 22:54.7), sophomores Brittany Fisher (126th, 23:02.6) and Cherice Chugg (179th, 24:01.9), and freshmen Brittany Bushman (125th, 23:01.2) and Tessa Brown (194th, 24:22.3).

• Utah State's men's golf team will return to action on Monday, Oct. 17 when it travels to Simi Valley, Calif., to compete in the Cal State Northridge hosted Bill Cullum Invitational.

Last Week
8/11 --- at Wildcat Invitational, Layton, Utah
• Utah State finished in eighth-place in the 11-team Wildcat Invitational hosted by Weber State with a 41-over 905 (306-296-303). Senior Chanse Godderidge was Utah State's top finisher as he tied for 28th with a 9-over 225 (78-74-73). Freshman Tanner Jenson finished tied for 30th with a 10-over 226 (76-72-78), while freshman Brennan Coburn tied for 37th with a 12-over 228 (76-77-75). Freshman Andrew Paulson tied for 45th with a 14-over 230 (76-73-81), and sophomore Tanner Higham finished 66th with a 22-over 238 (79-82-77). USU also had two individuals competing in the tournament as senior Cobie Lunsford tied for 37th with a 12-over 228 (77-75-76), while senior Austin French placed 55th with an 18-over 234 (74-77-83).

• Utah State's men's tennis team will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 19 when it travels to Las Vegas, Nev., to compete in the ITA Regionals.

• Sophomore Fredrik Peterson posted a 1-1 singles record and teamed with freshman Marcus Fritz in doubles play as the duo advanced to the semifinals at the Utah Intercollegiate Tournament hosted by the University of Utah last weekend. Other Aggies to compete in the tournament include seniors Nate Ballam and Lenny Whiting, and freshmen Jordan Barlow, Matt Sweet, Curran Wearmouth and Andrew Whiting.

NTS --- at ITA Regionals, Las Vegas
• Utah State's women's tennis team concluded its fall schedule last week at the ITA Regionals in Las Vegas, Nev., as junior Kristina Voytsekhovich posted a 2-1 record in singles play advancing to the quarterfinals and teamed with fellow junior Jaclyn West in doubles play. Other Aggies to compete in the tournament include seniors Monica Abella, Romina Nedakovic and Brianna Rowland, junior Mersadi Wilkins, and freshmen McKenzie Davis and Kimberly Watts.
