This Week
Sat., Oct. 25 --- UNLV, 2 p.m. (ESPNews)
• Utah State's football team (4-3, 1-1 MW) will continue Mountain West play this weekend with a home game as it hosts UNLV (2-5, 1-2 MW) on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. The game will be televised nationally on ESPNews (Comcast Ch. 402, Dish Network Ch. 142, DirecTV Ch. 207). USU is 14-7 all-time against the Rebels, including a 7-3 home record.

Last Week
L, 13-16 --- at Colorado State
• Colorado State's Jared Roberts hit a pair of 46-yard field goals in the final 1:50 to lift the Rams to a 16-13 home win against Utah State as the Aggies played the majority of the second-half without starting quarterback Darell Garreston who left the game early in the third quarter with an injured throwing arm. USU entered the game having won six-straight Mountain West games and 11 straight conference road games dating back to 2011. USU finished the game with 260 yards of offense (160-passing, 100-rushing) and CSU had 318 total yards (243-passing, 75-rushing). CSU also had 11 penalties in the game for 116 yards as compared to just six penalties for USU for 45 yards, but the Rams also dominated the time of possession, 35:45 to 24:15. USU was also just 2-of-12 on third downs, compared to 8-of-18 for CSU. Garretson was 14-of-19 passing for 132 yards with one interception before getting hurt on Utah State's fifth offensive play of the second-half. Senior QB Craig Harrison played the remainder of the game for USU under center and was 5-of-12 passing for 28 yards, while also rushing for 15 yards on one attempt. Senior RB Joe Hill led the Aggies' rushing attack as he had 64 yards on nine carries, including a season-long 59-yard rush in the first quarter for Utah State's only touchdown of the game. Junior WR JoJo Natson had a season-high six receptions for 28 yards, while senior WR Ronald Butler tied his career-high with five receptions for 46 yards. USU's defense was led by senior LB Zach Vigil who had 13 tackles for his third double-digit tackle outing of the season and the 14th of his career. USU also had a season-high eight sacks in the game from seven different players.

• Utah State's soccer team (9-5-2, 5-2-1 MW) will continue Mountain West play this weekend with a pair of home matches as it hosts UNLV (8-7-1, 3-5-0 MW) on Friday, Oct. 24 at 3 p.m., and Nevada (4-12-1, 1-7-0 MW) on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. USU is 2-5-0 all-time against the Rebels and 9-4-0 all-time against the Wolf Pack.

• Utah State posted a 1-1 Mountain West road record last weekend with a 2-1 loss at San Diego State and a 2-0 win at New Mexico. Against the Aztecs, senior midfielder Lexie Morgan scored in the 75th minute, while junior goalkeeper Jeannie Woller had three saves. Against the Lobos, senior defender Taryn Rose scored in the seventh minute, while Woller had five saves. USU's other goal in the match was an own goal by UNM.

• Utah State's volleyball team (9-9, 5-3 MW) will continue Mountain West play this week with a pair of road matches at Wyoming (16-5, 5-3 MW) on Thursday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. and at No. 6 Colorado State (20-1, 8-0 MW) on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 12 p.m. USU is 16-13 all-time against the Cowgirls and 14-20 all-time against the Rams.

• Utah State posted a 1-1 Mountain West record last week with a four-set loss at Boise State and a three-set home win against Fresno State. Against the Broncos, senior MB Kaitlyn VanHoff posted a career-high 18 kills, sophomore OPP Elle Brainard had 12 kills and senior S Paige Neves had seven kills. USU hit .178 (53-26-152) in the match and BSU hit .269 (56-17-145). Against the Bulldogs, senior OH Rachel Orr had 16 kills and was joined in double digits by Kaylie Kamalu with 10. USU wrapped up the match with its second-highest hitting percentage of the season, .333 (42-12-90), while Fresno State hit .078 (32-24-102).

• Utah State's women's tennis team will conclude its 2014 fall season at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in Flushing, N.Y., from Nov. 6-9 as senior McKenzie Davis will represent the Mountain Region in singles play.

Last Week
NTS --- at ITA Regionals, Albuquerque, N.M.
• Senior McKenzie Davis became the first Aggie in school history to win the ITA Mountain Region Championship held last weekend in Albuquerque, N.M. Davis, who was the seventh-seed in the tournament, posted a perfect 6-0 record in singles play and defeated Utah's Tereza Beckerova, the No. 1 seed in the tournament and the No. 76-ranked player in the country, in a three-set thriller (6-3, 5-7, 7-6). Davis also partnered with junior Kallie Sperry in doubles, but the duo posted an 0-1 record. Sperry went 0-1 in singles. Sophomores Nini Guensler and Lexi Turley went 2-1 in doubles, while Guensler went 2-2 in singles and Turley went 0-2.

• Utah State's men's golf team will conclude its 2014 fall season on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 20-21 when it competes in the Cal State Northridge hosted Bill Cullum Invitational.

Last Competition
8th/13 --- at Utah Invitational
• Utah State finished in eighth-place with a 34-over 1,099 (361-369-369) at the second annual OGIO Utah Invitationalin its last competition. Santa Clara won the 13-team tournament with an even par 1,065 (361-356-348), while Southern Utah's Nic Booth (68-69-73) and Seattle's Joe Harvie (70-70-70) shared medalist honors at 3-under 210. USU senior Grahm Schmaltz finished tied for 21st-place with a 5-over 218 (72-69-77) to lead the Aggies, while senior Zach Waxler (73-78-70) and juniors Brennan Coburn (69-77-75) and Seokwon Jeon (76-72-73) all tied for 33rd-place at 8-over 221. Sophomore McCoy Willey tied for 48th-place with an 11-over 224 (73-74-77) and sophomore Tanner Jenson tied for 53rd-place with a 12-over 225 (74-77-74). Waxler had the best final round for the Aggies as he shot a collegiate-best 1-under 70, while Schmaltz's 5-over 218 is his best-ever 54-hole score.

• Utah State's men and women's cross country teams will return to action on Friday, Oct. 31 when it travels to Fresno, Calif., to compete in the 2014 Mountain West Championships. The Aggie women finished fifth at last year's championships, while the men placed sixth.

Last Week
M: 8/23; W: 6/21 --- at Santa Clara Invitational
• Utah State sophomore Tori Parkinson finished 13th individually to help the Aggie women place sixth out of 21 teams with 188 points, while sophomore Colby Wilson placed 41st to lead the Aggie men to an eighth-place finish out of 23 teams with 276 points at the Santa Clara hosted Bronco Invitational last weekend. Oklahoma State captured the top spot in both the men's and women's races. Parkinson finished the six-kilometer race with a time of 20:50, while Wilson ran the eight-kilometer course in 24:22. Trailing Parkinson was freshman Hannah Malone who placed 36th with a time of 21:24, while fellow freshman Kelsey Yamauchi finished 48th with a time of 21:39. Junior Karlee Deeter posted a time of 21:40 to place 52nd, and junior Amanda Stoudt finished 67th clocking in at 21:51 to close out the Utah State top-five. Following Wilson was senior Eric Shellhorn who finished 45th with a time of 24:28, while fellow senior Mike Bills placed 62nd with a time of 24:41. Senior Tom Derr crossed the line in 71st-place with a time of 24:48, and freshman Justin Sheets placed 100th, recording a time of 25:19 to round out the Aggie top-five.

• Utah State's men's tennis team will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 10 when it begins its spring season at BYU at 11 a.m.

Last Week
NTS --- at ITA Regionals, Las Vegas, Nev.
• Freshman Jaime Barajas won the consolation bracket at the ITA Mountain Region Championships, held last weekend in Las Vegas, Nev., after posting an 8-1 singles record. Barajas also partnered with sophomore Sebastian Schneider for an 0-2 doubles record. Schneieder went 2-1 in singles play. Sophomore Tomas Cosmai posted a 2-2 singles record and a 1-2 doubles record with a player from Montana State. Senior Matt Sweet recorded an 0-2 singles record and a 1-2 doubles record with sophomore transfer Karan Salwan. Salwan posted a 2-1 singles record at the tournament. Sophomore Dennis Baumgartner went 2-1 in singles play, while teaming up with sophomore transfer Jack Swindells for a 2-2 doubles record. Swindells went 2-2 in singles play. Senior Marcus Fritz posted a 1-2 singles record and partnered together with freshman Andrew Nakajima for a 2-2 doubles record. Nakajima went 2-2 in singles play as well.
