• Utah State (8-2) will host Idaho State (3-6), Western Michigan (5-4) and Troy (1-9) this week in the 2010 World Vision Invitational, sponsored by Gossner Foods. The tournament will begin on Tuesday, Dec. 21 with Troy playing Western Michigan at 5:30 p.m., followed by Utah State versus Idaho State at 8 p.m. On Wednesday, Dec. 22, Idaho State and Troy will play at 5:30 p.m., and USU will play Western Michigan at 8 p.m. On Thursday, Dec. 23, Western Michigan and Idaho State will play at 5:30 p.m., followed by Utah State versus Troy at 8 p.m. USU is 33-13 all-time against ISU and 1-0 all-time against Western Michigan, while its game against Troy will be the first meeting between the two teams.

• Junior guard Brockeith Pane scored 19 points, including 12 in the second half, and senior forward Tai Wesley recorded his third-straight double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead Utah State to a convincing 76-58 win at Utah Valley Saturday. Pane, who added three assists in the game to go along with his 19 points, was 5-of-7 from the field, 3-of-4 from three-point range and a perfect 6-of-6 at the free throw line, while Wesley was 4-of-7 from the field and 6-of-7 at the free throw line to account for his 14 points. Wesley also added five assists and two blocks to go along with his 11 boards for his 12th career double-double. Senior forward Nate Bendall added 12 points and seven rebounds for Utah State, while senior guard Tyler Newbold scored in double-figures for the second-straight game finishing with 10 points. Utah State shot 53.8 percent from the field in the second half (14-26) and finished the game shooting 47.1 percent (24-51). USU was also 5-of-14 (.357) from three-point range and shot a season-high 85.2 percent at the free throw line (23-27). Utah Valley shot just 36.4 percent overall (20-55) as the Aggies have now held eight of its last nine opponents to less than 40 percent shooting. UVU also shot 31.3 percent from behind the arc (5-16) and 61.9 percent at the free throw line (13-21). Utah State also won the battle of the boards, out-rebounding Utah Valley by 11 (40-29).

• Utah State (5-5) will have two home games this week as it hosts South Dakota State (4-7) on Monday, Dec. 20 at 12 p.m. and Wyoming (7-3) on Thursday, Dec. 23 at 2 p.m. The Aggies will be playing SDSU for the first-time ever and is 4-13 all-time against the Cowgirls.

• Utah State went 1-1 last week in a pair of home games as it defeated San Francisco (77-71) and lost to Idaho State (64-52). Against the Dons, junior forward Ashlee Brown posted her third double-double of the season with 21 points and 14 rebounds, sophomore guard Devyn Christensen added a career-high 14 points off the bench, and freshman guard Jennifer Schlott scored 11 points and dished out five assists. Sophomore center Banna Diop also scored in double-figures for USU as she had 10 points to go along with eight rebounds. USU finished the game by shooting 43.1 percent (28-65), including 62.5 percent from three-point range (5-8) and 64.0 percent at the free throw line (16-25). USF shot 46.6 percent (27-58), including 40.9 percent from behind the arc (9-22) and 80.0 percent at the charity stripe (8-10). Against the Bengals, Brown posted another double-double as she had 17 points and 15 rebounds to go along with three blocked shots. Senior guard/forward Amber White scored 13 points and senior guard Alice Coddington had 10 points, six rebounds and five steals. USU shot 32.2 percent (19-59) for the game, including 16.7 percent from three (3-18) and 78.6 percent at the free throw line. ISU shot 44.7 percent from the field (21-47), 50.0 percent from three-point range (7-14) and 75.0 percent at the free throw line (15-20).
