• Utah State (10-5) will open Western Athletic Conference play this week as it hosts Hawai'i (3-8) on Thursday, Jan. 3 at 7 p.m. in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. USU will then travel to Reno, Nev., to play the University of Nevada (7-5) on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 8 p.m. (MT). The game against the Rainbow Warriors will be televised live on KJZZ-TV. Utah State is riding a season-high five-game winning streak and has won seven of its last eight games after starting the season with a 3-4 record. USU is 5-3 all-time against Hawai'i and 25-10 all-time against Nevada. The Aggies have won two straight games against both the Rainbow Warriors and the Wolf Pack. Last week, Utah State rolled to an easy 76-55 home win against Oral Roberts as it had four players score 10-plus points and record seven or more rebounds, led by junior forward Gary Wilkinson's 15 points and eight boards. Freshman forward Tai Wesley added a season-high 14 points and eight rebounds, while senior guard Jaycee Carroll had 14 points and seven rebounds. Senior forward Stephen DuCharme had 10 points and eight rebounds off the bench. As a team, USU shot 52.6 percent from the field and held ORU to just 30.2 percent shooting. On the year, Utah State is led by Carroll who is averaging 21.3 points and 6.0 rebounds and shooting 53.2 percent from the field, 50.5 percent from three-point range and 94.8 percent from the free throw line. Two other players are scoring in double-figures for the Aggies as Wilkinson is averaging 11.9 points and 5.4 rebounds and DuCharme is averaging 11.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. Overall, USU is scoring 70.3 points and shooting 48.9 percent from the field, 38.3 percent from three-point range and 79.6 percent from the free throw line, while its opponents are scoring 65.4 points and shooting 43.4 percent from the field, 35.7 percent from three-point range and 69.8 percent from the free throw line.

• Utah State (3-8) will play its final non-conference game of the season on Wednesday, Jan. 2 at Southern Utah (2-9) before opening Western Athletic Conference play at home against San Jose State (1-12) on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 7 p.m. in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. USU is 1-2 all-time against Southern Utah and 1-4 all-time against San Jose State. Last week, Utah State lost to Brigham Young at home, 70-64 as the Aggies shot just 34.8 percent from the field as compared to 54.2 percent shooting by the Cougars. BYU also out-rebounded USU 41-27, but the Aggies kept the game close as it forced the Cougars into 22 turnovers, while committing just 10. Individually, Utah State had three players score in double-figures as seniors Jamelah Brown and Taylor Richards and freshman Jade Hatchett each scored 11 points. Brown also had a team-high six rebounds, while Richards recorded four assists. On the season, junior guard Danyelle Snelgro is leading the team with 11.2 points per game, while Richards is averaging 10.7 points. Overall, Utah State is scoring 62.3 points and shooting 38.3 percent from the field, 36.5 percent from three-point range and 72.5 percent from the free throw line, while its opponents are scoring 66.5 points and shooting 44.8 percent from the field, 38.1 percent from three-point range and 71.2 percent from the free throw line.
