Director of Events

Reed Capener has been named the Utah State Athletics' Director of Events, it was announced on Aug. 1, 2013 by Executive Associate Athletics Director for External Operations Jana Doggett.

Capener replaces Leon Jackson III, who was named USU's assistant athletic ticket manager in June.

Capener returns to the USU Athletics Department, where he is a USU alum, in addition to being a student worker, graduate assistant and interim marketing co-director during his time as a student and graduate student.

"I'm honored to be a part of the Utah State University Athletics family. I've enjoyed my experiences at USU and look forward to contributing to the outstanding program on a professional level," Capener said.

Capener's duties include creating and developing game-day operations and event management of USU's 16 intercollegiate sports.

"We are thrilled to have Reed back with the USU Athletics Department as a full-time employee," Doggett said. "He did a wonderful job for us when he was an under-graduate and graduate-student employee."

Prior to his current role with USU Athletics, Capener was first mate for Lahaina Cruise Company in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii.

During his previous time at USU, Capener was the interim marketing co-director, overseeing game operations as well as promotion and marketing events. Capener was also the public address announcer for the USU women's soccer matches as well as selected other athletic events.

A native of Perry, Utah, Capener earned his bachelor's degree in physical education with an emphasis in pre-physical therapy from Utah State in 2008 and his master's of science degree in health and human movement with emphasis in corporate wellness from USU in 2011. He was also an instructor in the USU Health, Physical Education and Recreation department, teaching courses and labs in anatomical kinesiology, biomechanics and fitness, earning an Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Fellow honor in 2008.

Capener is married to the former Caitlyn Jenson.
