Assistant AD for Marketing and Promotions


Ryan McLane is in his second year as an Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and Promotions at Utah State.

McLane, who previously spent two years at USU, returned to Logan after a three-year stint at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).

While at VCU, McLane served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Promotions. He developed strategic marketing, advertising and sales campaigns that resulted in 48 consecutive sold-out men’s basketball games and increased average attendance for several other programs.

McLane assisted in department-wide rebranding efforts for the Rams, introducing new logos and brand identity during the 2013-14 campaign. Additionally, he managed the athletics student support organization and the department’s kids club program and supervised the spirit squad coaches and pep band director.                               

Prior to his time at VCU, McLane spent two years at Utah State as the Director of Athletic Marketing and Promotions. In this role, he managed and implemented all advertising and promotional efforts for the USU Athletics Department along with directing the game presentation at all home athletic events and maintaining the department’s website and social media platforms. During his first stint at USU, McLane helped the department through the rebranding process in 2012 and oversaw marketing efforts for the school’s move to the Mountain West.                              

McLane is a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., and graduated from Robert Morris University in 2009 with bachelor’s degrees in business administration. He then completed a master’s degree in education at the University of Oklahoma in 2011.
