Aggie Head Coach Earns Second Mountain Region Coach Of The Year Honor

Matt Ingebritsen (pronounced, Ing-A-Brit-Sin) is in his 12th year as an assistant track & field coach at Utah State. His main responsibility with the Aggies is working with the throwers.

While at Utah State, Ingebritsen has coached seven individual conference champions, including Aggie great and All-American Krista Larson, as well as Lindsey Spencer, who set school records in both the outdoor discus and hammer throwing events in 2012.

Ingebritsen competed for five years at Boise State in the discus, shot put, weight and hammer throws. He ranks third all-time at BSU for indoor 35-pound weight and was a top five all-time hammer thrower there as well. In 2003, Ingebritsen claimed a top-three finish in the shot put at the WAC Outdoor Championships. In 2001, he was a top five finisher in shot put and discus at the Big West Conference Championships.

During the 2004 season, he coached at Mountain View High School in Boise, Idaho. He took six athletes to state and had one finish in the top three in the shot put and discus.

In 2003, Ingebritsen graduated from Boise State with a degree in social science. In 2006, Ingebritsen received a master’s of education degree in health, physical education and recreation from Utah State.

He is married to the former Abbey Elsberry.
