Mark Faldmo Complete Results

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State track & field concluded the Mark Faldmo Invitational with five event titles Saturday at Maughan Track Stadium.

Sophomore Brenn Flint started the Aggies off on the right track by winning the shot put with a personal-best toss of 15.61m (51-2.75). Junior Olivia Moriconi followed behind Flint with a second-place finish and a distance of 15.00m (49-2.50), while freshman Maia Garren recorded a personal-best toss of 14.51m (47-7.25) to complete the Aggie sweep in the women’s shot put.

Flint and Moriconi also went back-to-back in the discus. Flint won the event with a mark of 47.46m (155-08), while Moriconi finished second with a distance of 46.79m (153-06).

“They did a great job in the shot put and obviously they went one, two and three,” said veteran Utah State head coach Gregg Gensel. “They’ve done a great job of improving on their marks the whole season. One of the great things about hosting a meet is to be able to perform in front of family and friends, with the bonus this year being able to host the conference championships here, as well.”

On the men’s side, the throwing events were greatly impacted by the performance of junior David Hirschmann. He placed first in the shot put with a distance of 17.43m (57-2.25), while placing second in the discus with a mark of 51.54m (169-01).

“Overall, we’re really happy with our performance,” said Hirschmann. “We had a lot of personal bests and a lot of season bests. Everyone was really cheering each other and it was a great atmosphere. I was happy with my shot put performance because I had a tough week in practice. I only lost in the discus by a couple of inches, so I went to the shot and made it a good day in that event.”

Senior AJ Boully led the charge in the men’s track events as he cruised to a 400m victory with a time of 46.61.

"My 400 wasn’t as fast as I would have liked, but it was a really great opportunity to race against some former teammates,” said Boully. "Everyone performed really well today from what I’ve seen and we got to do it in our home town.”

USU’s women were paced in the track events by senior Christine Van Brocklin-Parker, who finished runner-up in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:00.85.

Utah State track & field returns to action next Friday and Saturday, April 21-22, at the Cardinal Classic in Stanford, Calif.

The Mountain West Outdoor Championships will be held in Logan, Utah on May 10-13, just 12 days before the First Round of the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas, on May 25-27.
