Utah State Track and Field's Chari Hawkins Sitting in Eighth-Place Following First Four Events of Heptathlon at Mt. SAC Relays

Junior Chari Hawkins finished the opening day of the Mt. SAC Relays in eighth-place after four events of the women’s heptathlon here at the Hilmer Lodge Stadium in Walnut, Calif. Among collegiate athletes, Hawkins scored the second-highest point total with 3,444 points.
The Rexburg, Idaho native started the day off with a seventh-place finish in the 100m hurdles, crossing the finish line with a time of 13.79. Next up for the junior was the high jump, where she garnered fourth-place with a leap of 1.75m (5-08.75). The third event of the day was the shot put, with Hawkins placing 17th after a personal-best toss of 11.15m (36-07.00). Finally, Hawkins wrapped up Wednesday’s action by taking ninth in the 200m dash with a personal-record time of 24.69.
The Aggies will continue competition at the Mt. SAC Relays on Thursday, including the final two events of the heptathlon. A full recap of the day’s action will be posted to www.UtahStateAggies.com following the completion of events.
