USU Starts Out Strong On First Day Of WAC Track Championships
Utah State's Lacey Hulbert won three of the four events contested on the first day of heptathlon while Aggie Logan Moore is in second place after four events of the decathlon at the Western Athletic Conference Championships here on Wednesday.
Hulbert won the 100-meter hurdles and the high jump to begin the competition and then after placing third in the shot put, won the 200 meters to take control on the first of two days of the seven-event heptathlon. Teammate Aimee Sauvageau finished fourth in the high jump and shot put and eighth in the 100-meter hurdles and 200 meters. On the men's side, Moore is just 21 points out of the lead after four events as he trails Fresno State's Robert Calzadilla 2,678 to 2,657 points. Moore has been consistent, finishing second in the shot put and fifth in the 100, long jump and high jump on the first day. Both the decathlon and heptathlon will be completed on Thurday before the rest of the championship meet takes place on Friday and Saturday.
