LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's indoor track and field teams will host its annual Wilson Motor Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 17. The meet will be USU's only home indoor competition of the season. Other teams expected to participate include Utah Valley and Utah.
Field events will begin at 10 a.m., and running events are set to start at 11:30 a.m. The last event, the 4x400 relays, is scheduled for 2:10 p.m. The meet, which will be held in the George Nelson Field House on the USU campus, is free to the public.
"This is our only indoor meet of the year and it's a great chance for our athlete's family and friends to come watch them compete," said veteran Aggie head coach Gregg Gensel. "We've been working very hard for several months and now we get a chance to see where we are at and what we are capable of."
Aggies to keep an eye on Saturday according to Gensel include seniors Ben Kessen, Krista Larson, Katie Thatcher and Keith Williams, juniors Ashlee Cannon, Jason Holt, Casey Parker and Steve Strickland, sophomores Sonia Grabowska, Katelyn Jensen and Clint Silcock, and freshmen Jessie Chugg, Bryce Hall and John Johnson.
In last year's Wilson Motor Invitational, Utah State had 12 individual winners including nine Aggies who will be competing Saturday. Returning winners on the women's side include seniors Krista Larson (weight throw) and Katie Thatcher (400m hurdles), juniors Erin Stratton (800m) and Ashlee Cannon (60m hurdles), and sophomore Maria Halton (60m). Individual winners returning on the men's side include seniors Nick Karren (400m), Palmer Hawkins and David Loomis (pole vault), and junior Jason Holt (mile).
Results will be available on USU's athletic web site at www.UtahStateAggies.com following the meet.
