LOGAN, Utah – Utah State thrower Brenn Flint has been named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week, for the period ending Sunday, Jan. 15, it was announced Monday. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
It is the first time in Flint's career that she has been named USU’s student-athlete of the week.
The native of Syracuse, Utah, won the shot put at the Boise State-hosted Ed Jacoby Invitational last weekend by recording a personal-best mark of 14.65m (48-00.75), which ranks seventh all-time in school history. Flint also placed fifth in the weight throw with a toss of 14.26m (46-9.50).

MEN’S BASKETBALL – Senior wing Jalen Moore (North Logan, Utah) led Utah State in both points and field goal percentage last week as the Aggies lost Mountain West road games at Wyoming (95-87) and at San Diego State (74-55). Against the Cowboys, Moore scored a team-high 20 points and finished second on the team with five rebounds. Moore shot 63.6 percent (7-of-11) from the floor against Wyoming, including 33.3 percent (1-of-3) from behind the 3-point line, while shooting 83.3 percent (5-of-6) at the free throw line. Moore also added an assist and steal. Against San Diego State, Moore scored 13 points and added three rebounds and shot 45.5 percent from the floor, 50.0 percent (2-of-4) from behind the 3-point line and 100.0 percent (1-of-1) at the free throw line. For the week, Moore averaged a team-best 16.5 points and added 4.0 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 0.5 steals, while shooting a team-best 54.5 percent (12-of-22) from the floor.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL – Sophomore guard Rachel Brewster (Melbourne, Victoria, Australia) led Utah State to a 1-1 Mountain West home record last week as the Aggies fell to Wyoming (71-48) and defeated San Diego State (53-47). Against the Cowgirls, Brewster scored nine points, while adding five rebounds, two assists and one steal. Against the Aztecs, she led the team in both scoring and rebounding, ending the day with 18 points and nine boards. Additionally, she added four steals and three assists in the win. On the week, Brewster averaged 13.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game, while shooting 32.3 percent (10-of-31) from the field, 50.0 percent (2-of-4) from the 3-point line and 71.4 percent (5-of-7) from the free throw line.
GYMNASTICS – Junior Miranda Hone (Las Vegas, Nev.) recorded a pair of personal-best scores this past weekend in Utah State’s home-opening tri meet against No. 16 North Carolina State and Bowling Green. Hone placed seventh on bars with a 9.775 and tied for ninth on vault with a 9.750. The Aggies finished the meet with a season-high 195.400, placing first ahead of the Wolfpack (193.900) and the Falcons (193.275).
MEN’S TENNIS – Senior Jack Swindells (Towradgi, Australia) posted a 3-1 overall record last week to guide Utah State to a 1-1 road record with a 6-1 win against UC Irvine and a 6-1 loss at San Diego. Against the Anteaters, Swindells won in straight sets at the No. 2 spot (6-2, 6-4) after teaming up with sophomore Jonas Maier for a 6-4 win at the first doubles position. Against the Toreros, Swindells posted USU’s lone point with a three-set win at the No. 2 spot (6-7 (3), 6-4, 10-5). In doubles, Swindells and Maier fell at the first position.
MEN’S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD – Senior AJ Boully (Boise, Idaho) won the 60m hurdles last weekend at the Boise State-hosted Ed Jacoby Invitational with a time of 7.99. Boully also led the men’s 4x400m relay team to a second-place finish, recording a time of 3:17.69.
