Litzsinger, Page Named WAC Track Athletes Of The Week

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State track & field senior Alex Litzsinger and redshirt-freshman Briton Page were named the Western Athletic Conference Women's and Men's Indoor Track Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week of Jan. 14-20.
This is the first of WAC Athlete of the Week honor for both Litzsinger and Page.
Litzsinger, a senior from Pocatello, Idaho (Highland HS), won her heat in the women's mile and placed second-overall with a time of 4:59.08 (altitude converted to 4:52.56) to help lead the USU women at the University of New Mexico hosted Cherry & Silver Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., this past weekend. Litzsinger has the fastest time in the women's mile in the WAC this season, along with ranking 10th in school history in the event and 50th in the nation this season.
Page, a redshirt-freshman from Centerville, Utah (Viewmont HS), won his heat by more than six seconds in the men's 800m and placed second-overall with a time of 1:51.69 (altitude converted to 1:51.07) this past weekend at the Cherry & Silver Invitational. With the time, Page ranks first in the WAC and ninth in the nation in the 800m this season, as well as ranking seventh in the event in school history.
UTSA's Eboni Johnson was named the WAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week, while UT Arlington's Brandon Waller received the WAC Field honor for the men.
Action for the USU track & field team continues at the Jacksons/New Balance Invitational hosted by Boise State in Nampa, Idaho on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 25-26.
