Logan, Utah -

Utah State’s men and women’s track & field teams will return to Albuquerque, N.M. for the New Mexico Team Invitational at the Albuquerque Convention Center on Saturday, Feb. 1. The meet will include team scoring and will feature teams from the Air Force Academy, Arizona State, LSU, Nebraska, New Mexico, Notre Dame, TCU and UCLA, along with USU.

This weekend's meet will mark the third-straight week that the Aggies have traveled to Albuquerque after sending athletes to the Lobo Collegiate Invitational a week ago and competing in the Lobo Collegiate Invitational to open the season a week prior. Utah State will make two additional trips to the UNM campus, as they will return for the Don Kirby Collegiate Elite Invitational on Feb. 14-15 and the NCAA Indoor Championships on Mar. 14-15.

Action will begin Saturday at 9:30 a.m. (MT) with the women's weight throw and will be followed by the men and women’s high jump at 10 a.m. The competition will wrap up with the men and women's 4x400m relay at 4:25 p.m. and 4:35 p.m., respectively.

"This is a big, team competition and we just want to put the team in a very competitive situation to get them more preparred for the conference meet,” said veteran Aggie coach Gregg Gensel.

Utah State is coming off strong performances at the Jacksons Invitational in Nampa, Idaho and the Cherry & Silver Invitational in Albuquerque last weekend. Junior Nic Bowens led the way in the Gem State with a pair of titles in the 60m and 200m races. Junior Chari Hawkins continued her excellent indoor season at the Cherry & Silver Invitational by placing third and setting a school record and the sixth-best score in the nation in the pentathlon enroute to being named Co-Mountain West Track & Field Athlete of the Week.
