LOGAN, Utah - Heading into their final weekend of regular season competition the Utah State men and women's indoor track and field teams will split action at three meets Friday and Saturday, Feb. 8-9, including the Boise State Team Challenge in Nampa, Idaho, along with the New Mexico hosted Don Kirby Elite Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. and the Washington hosted Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash.
"We wanted to make sure everyone got one last opportunity to perform at their best before the conference meet in a couple of weeks," veteran Aggie head coach Gregg Gensel said. "Sending athletes to these three meets gives us those best opportunities. They are all tracks that we are familiar with and the athletes will be able to focus on what they need to do in order to perform at their highest level."
This is the third time this season the Aggies will send athletes to compete with Boise State, while also being the second time USU has visited Albuquerque in 2013. The Husky Classic will be the first meet of the indoor season away from either Boise State or New Mexico's track and field facilities. Utah State will also return to Albuquerque for the 2013 Western Athletic Conference Indoor Championships on Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 21-23.
Fans will be able to follow all three meets this weekend by clicking on the 'Live Results' links on the Track & Field page at www.UtahStateAggies.com. Schedules for all three meets will also be available on the Utah State Track & Field page.
Action for the Don Kirby Elite Invitational at the Albuquerque Center will begin at 1 p.m. (MT) with the women's long jump and is set to concluded with the women's 4x400m relay at 9:50 p.m. The Boise State Team Challenge begins Friday with the women's pentathlon 60m hurdles at 2:30 p.m. and will end with the women's pentathlon 800m at 7:30 p.m. The Husky Classic kicks off on Friday at 5 p.m. with the women's 200m as well as the women's weight throw and will conclude with the men's mile at 10 p.m. All times are subject to change.
