USU Track and Field Returns to Idaho for Boise State Hosted Bronco Invitational
Feb. 7, 2014
Logan, Utah -
Utah State’s men and women’s track & field teams will once again travel to Nampa, Idaho for the Boise State hosted Bronco Invitational at the Jacksons Indoor Track at the Idaho Center on Saturday, Feb. 8.
Action will begin Saturday at 9 a.m. (MT) with the women's high jump and will be followed by the men’s weight throw at 9:30 a.m. The competition will conclude with the men and women's 4x400m relays at 3:40 p.m. and 4:05 p.m., respectively.
It is the second of three trips to the Gem State for the Aggies during the indoor season. USU competed at the Jacksons Invitational Jan. 24-25 and will return to Nampa next weekend for the Boise State Team Challenge on Saturday, Feb. 15.
"This is an in-between meet where we had really good competition last week and we have a really good field we're facing next week, so it's an opportunity to see how we're improving and give everybody a chance to compete in a couple events. We just want to make sure that we are progressing in the right direction.” said veteran Aggie coach Gregg Gensel.
Utah State is coming off a solid performance against a tough field at the New Mexico Team Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. last weekend. Junior Chari Hawkins and senior Keeley Eldredge set new school records in the high jump and weight throw, respectively, to lead the way for the Aggies. Both the men and women's teams finished eighth in team scoring.
