LOGAN, Utah - Utah State is sending four seniors to the 2018 NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships this weekend, held Friday and Saturday, March 9-10, in College Station, Texas.

The championships will be broadcast live on ESPN3, and links to the stream and live results will be available on UtahStateAggies.com.

"For our men's side, it's probably the best way we could end a successful indoor season this year," said interim head track & field coach Matt Ingebritsen. "With that DMR (distance medley relay) ranked second in the nation, Dillon (Maggard) making a decision to be selfless and think of his team and Clay (Lambourne) running in the 800 (meters), I think those guys are going to represent Utah State really well."

Seniors Jordan Beutler and Brady Martin will join Maggard and Lambourne at the national championship meet. The foursome makes up the No. 2-ranked DMR team in the nation with an altitude-adjusted time of 9:25.91, which would be the second-fastest time in NCAA history, that the team ran at the Mountain West Indoor Championships.

"It means a lot to me to be on a relay with this group of guys," said Martin, who runs the 400m leg of the DMR. "This relay is special for me because the sprinters don't usually get to run with the distance guys, so to be able to run a relay with Dillon, Clay and Jordan is amazing, especially all being seniors. They are all amazing runners, so the expectations are high for us all, and we believe we can place really well."

The DMR final is on Friday at 7:45 p.m. (MT). Beutler is slated to run the 1,200m portion of the race, while Lambourne will run the 800m leg with Maggard anchoring by running the 1,600m.

Individually, Maggard will also run in the 3,000m finals on Saturday at 5:10 p.m. (MT), while Lambourne will run in the 800m race, with the semifinals on Friday at 6:15 p.m. (MT) and the finals on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. (MT).

Lambourne enters the 800m championships ranked 16th in the nation with an altitude-adjusted time of 1:48.13. He has won all four indoor 800m MW championships during his career, and this is his first trip to the indoor national championships.

"This has been a goal since last indoor season, so it means a lot," Lambourne said. "It always helps to get the race experience in these big races with the best runners in the nation, but I have honestly just been really lucky with the timing. I came to Utah State at a time when I had a lot of great athletes here to look up to and follow in their footsteps. They were really pushing what it meant to have a successful program, and from my freshman year, it pushed me to think of achieving things greater than conference success. So, it means a lot to help build the program and create an environment of success on the national level."

Maggard is ranked 15th in the nation in the 3,000m race with a school-record time of 7:52.99 that he set in Seattle, Wash., earlier this season. Overall, Maggard is the only Aggie in school history to run the race in under eight minutes.

Maggard also qualified to compete in the 5,000m championships, but the race is scheduled for 40 minutes before the DMR. He decided to run on the relay with his fellow seniors rather than chase an individual title.

"I couldn't be prouder of the way we have finished up this season, honestly, especially with the first time being in charge of everything, it's fun for me to be a part of that," Ingebritsen said.
