LOGAN, Utah – Redshirt freshman Sindri Gudmundsson (pronounced, Sin-Dree Good-Mund-Son) has been tabbed the Mountain West Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for meets held through March 18, it was announced Tuesday afternoon by the conference.

It is the first time this year and first time in his career that Gudmundsson has earned Mountain West weekly accolades.

While donning Aggie colors for the first time in collegiate competition, Gudmundsson won the javelin title and broke Utah State’s javelin record with a distance of 72.24m (237-0) last weekend at the UC Irvine-hosted Spring Break Collegiate Classic.

The native of Kopavogur, Iceland, currently ranks first in the Mountain West and third in the nation. Gudmundsson’s mark also ranks second all-time in Mountain West history.

The Mountain West Outdoor Championships will be held in Logan, Utah on May 10-13, just 12 days before the First Round of the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas, on May 25-27.
