LOGAN, Utah – Utah State track & field looks to take last week’s momentum into a pair of meets this weekend, starting Friday, April 7, at the Utah Spring Classic in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Aggies will also compete at the UCLA-hosted Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational on Saturday, April 8, in Los Angeles, Calif.

Field events at the Utah Spring Classic are scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m., with the javelin and pole vault at the McCarthey Family Track and Field in Salt Lake City. The track events will begin Friday night at 5 p.m., with the women's 4x100 meter relay.

Field events will kick off the UCLA Invitational at 9:30 a.m. (MT), and the meet will conclude at 7:05 p.m. (MT), with the men’s and women’s 4x400m relays.

“This weekend is about continuing to prepare for the conference championships,” said veteran USU head track & field coach Gregg Gensel. “We really like the competition that will be at the UCLA Invitational, and we have other athletes that we want to compete and support the local Utah meet. Once again this week is a great opportunity for our student-athletes to show what they can do.”

The last time Utah State track & field competed, AJ Boully won both the 400m hurdles and 4x400m relay titles with times of 49.58 and 3:06.72, respectively, at the 90th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, presented by Spectrum. In his 400m hurdles victory,  Boully finished just ahead of Texas hurdler and 2016 Olympian, Byron Robinson. His time in the 400m hurdles ranks third all-time in school history, first in the Mountain West and second in the nation this season. Boully's 4x400m relay time ranks first in the Mountain West and 18th in the nation this season.

The Mountain West Outdoor Championships will be held in Logan, Utah on May 10-13, just 12 days before the First Round of the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas, on May 25-27.
