Junior Thrower Keeley Eldredge Tabbed USU Student-Athlete Of The Week

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's track & field thrower Keeley Eldredge was named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, April 14, in an award voted on by a state-wide media panel.
This is the first career USU Student-Athlete of the Week honor for Eldredge, while also marking the first time an Aggie women's track and field athlete has won the award this season.
Eldredge, a junior from Sandy, Utah (Alta HS), won the hammer throw with a personal-best toss of 56.55m (185-06) at the Sacramento State hosted Mondo Mid-Major Challenge this past weekend in Sacramento, Calif. With her throw, Eldredge now ranks second in the Western Athletic Conference this season for the event, while also moving up to seventh all-time in school history. Furthermore, Eldredge ranks 36th in the West and 62nd in the nation for the hammer throw this season.
Overall, Utah State had 34 top-six finishers at the Sacramento State hosted Mondo Mid-Major Challenge including five events winners. The USU men tabbed a second-place team finish, while the Aggie women placed fourth overall.
Action continues for Utah State track & field as they send some athletes to the Mt. SAC Relays and Distance Carnival in Walnut, Calif. on Thursday and Friday, April 18-19. USU will also host the annual Mark Faldmo Invitational at Ralph Maughan Track Stadium on Friday and Saturday, April 19-20. MEN'S GOLF - Junior Tanner Higham (Shelley, Idaho) finished tied for 40th with a 9-over 149 (77-72) at the Wyoming hosted Cowboy Classic last week as he carded a 7-over 77 during his first 18 holes and then shot a 2-over 72 during his final round. USU finished the tournament in 22nd-place in the 24-team field.
MEN'S TENNIS - Senior Sven Poslusny (Lorrach, Germany) posted a 2-1 singles record and went 2-1 in doubles play in helping Utah State to a 2-1 Western Athletic Conference home record last week with wins against Seattle (6-1) and UT Arlington (4-3), and a loss to New Mexico State (4-2). Against the Redhawks, Poslusny posted a three-sets win at No. 1 singles (6-1, 5-7, 6-2) and teamed with sophomore Matt Sweet for an 8-2 win at the first doubles position. Against NMSU, Poslusny lost in three-sets at No. 1 singles (2-6, 7-5, 6-2) and teamed with Sweet for an 8-6 loss at the first doubles position. And against the Mavericks, Poslusny posted a straight sets win at No. 1 singles (6-1, 6-1) and teamed with Sweet for an 8-2 win at the first doubles position.
WOMEN'S TENNIS - Sophomore McKenzie Davis (Salt Lake City, Utah) posted a 2-1 singles record and went 1-2 in doubles play last week as Utah State lost matches to UTEP (6-1), New Mexico State (5-2) and Denver (6-1). Against the Miners, Davis posted a three-sets win at No. 1 singles (6-4, 5-7, 10-7) and teamed with freshman Kallie Sperry for an 8-6 loss at the first doubles position. Against NMSU, Davis posted a straight sets win at No. 1 singles (6-0, 6-1) and teamed with Sperry for an 8-6 win at the first doubles position. And against the Pioneers, Davis lost in straight sets at No. 1 singles (6-4, 6-4) and teamed with Sperry for an 8-2 loss at the first doubles position.
MEN'S TRACK - Senior Will Henry (Richmond, Calif.) won the 100m with a time of 10.57 at the Sacramento State hosted Mondo Mid-Major Challenge this past weekend, ranking him seventh in the WAC this season for the event. As a team, Utah State finished second overall at the meet.
