LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's Katie Thatcher has been named the Western Athletic Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week it was announced Monday by the conference office for the week of April 28-May 4.

Thatcher, a junior from Paradise, Utah (Mountain Crest HS), won the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.23, Friday at the Boise State Bronco Twilight meet. She notched her second NCAA regional qualifying mark this season. The 1:00.23 is the ninth-fastest in USU history, as she now holds the No.'s 7-8-9 spots on the Aggies' top 10 list, with the No. 8 spot her 1:00.11 run earlier this season.

The pair of Aggie women honorees matches the two men's team athletes who have won it earlier this season in senior sprinter Dasheek Akwenye (March 24) and sophomore distance runner Steve Strickland (April 14).

Utah State's track and field teams will compete in the Utah Collegiate Challenge on Wednesday, May 7 in Salt Lake City, Utah. This meet will be USU's final competition before the WAC Championships, which will be hosted by Boise State, Wednesday-Saturday, May 14-17 at Boise, Idaho.
