Karren Collects America First Credit Union Utah State Student-Athlete of the Week Accolade

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's Nick Karren collected the America First Credit Union Utah State Student-Athlete of the Week accolade. The USU award is chosen by a statewide media panel.
Karren, a native of Duchesne, Utah (Duchesne HS) collected four all-Western Athletic Conference first-team awards during the WAC Outdoor Championships, winning the 400m hurdles title (47.40) for the second time in three years. Karren also finished secondin the 110m hurdles (14.19) and the 400m (47.40), and was a member of the third-place 4x400 relay team, helping lead USU to its second WAC Outdoor team title in three years. Karren's 110m hurdles time of 14.19 is a new personal-best and the fifth-fastest in USU history. Karren's 400m dash clocking of 47.40, is also a new PR and the 10th-fastest mark on the school record list.
Karren has regionally qualified for the NCAA West Regional Championships, May 28-30 at Eugene, Ore.

WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD - Krista Larson - Senior (Kaysville, Utah) set a new Utah State school record in the hammer throw at the WAC Outdoor Championships on Saturday at the Ralph Maughan Track Stadium, with a distance of196-08 (59.95m), breaking the previous record book of 193-50 (58.98m) that was set by Charlotte Wahlin in 2000. Larson's distance placed her second in that event at the WAC Championships, earning first-team all-WAC honors, and was also an NCAA regional qualifying mark. Larson also competed in thediscus tabbing fifth-placewith a toss of 151-00 (46.02m) to earn second-team all-WAC honors.
