LOGAN, Utah -
Utah State junior track & field athlete Nic Bowens has been named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, June 1. It was announced Monday, in an award that is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
This is the third-straight week that the Bowens has received the honor. In total, the junior has been named USU's Student-Athlete of the Week four times this season and five times in his career.
Bowens, a native of Meridian, Idaho, qualified for the NCAA Finals in the 100m after finishing 10th in the quarterfinals at the first round of the NCAA Championships with a time of 10.21. Bowens also placed 15th in the quarterfinals of the 200m with a time of 20.85, and was a member of the 4x100m relay team that placed 14th with a time of 40.15.
Utah State will be represented by Bowens and Chari Hawkins at the NCAA Championship Finals in Eugene, Ore. Jun. 11-14.
