Bowens and Hawkins to Represent Utah State Track and Field at NCAA Championship Finals

Utah State's men and women's track & field teams will be represented by juniors Nic Bowens and Chari Hawkins at the NCAA Outdoor Championship Finals in Eugene, Ore. The meet will be held Wednesday through Saturday, Jun. 11-14, at Hayward Field.
Bowens will compete in the 100m dash, while Hawkins will take part in the heptathlon. It is the first time advancing to the Championship Finals for Bowens. Hawkins earned second-team All-American honors last year in the heptathlon following an 11th-place finish.
Bowens qualified for the finals after placing 10th overall with a time of 10.21 in the quarterfinals at the NCAA Championship First Round in Fayetteville, Ark. Hawkins automatically advanced to the finals in the heptathlon after posting a score of 5,550 points at the Mt. SAC Relays on Apr. 17.
Bowens will kickoff action for the Aggies on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. (MT) with the 100m semifinals, with the finals scheduled for Friday at 4:19 p.m. (MT) Hawkins will begin competition with the first four events of the heptathlon on Thursday beginning at 2 p.m. (MT) and will conclude with the final three events starting Friday at 1:30 p.m. (MT)
"We are excited to be going to the final round of the NCAAs," said Aggie veteran head coach Gregg Gensel. "Chari and Nic have a shot at doing really well and this is a great opportunity our program and the future of Aggie Track & Field."
