LOGAN, Utah - Utah State junior track & field athlete Chari Hawkins has been named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, June 15 as it was announced Monday, in an award that is voted on by a state-wide media panel.

It is the sixth time this year and ninth time in her career that Hawkins has been named USU's student-athlete of the week.

Hawkins (Rexburg, Idaho) earned second-team All-America honors in the heptathlon for the second-straight year after placing ninth in the event with a season-best 5,552 points at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Finals last weekend. Hawkins finished 12th in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.97, placed ninth in the high jump with a mark of 1.72m (5-07.75), had a personal-best toss of 11.86m (38-11.00) in the shot put to place 11th, finished 10th in the 200m with a time of 25.28, tied for eighth-place in the long jump with a distance of 5.71m (18-07.25), set a season-best in the javelin with a toss of 38.92 (127-08) to finish 13th, and ran a personal-best time of 2:24.13 in the 800m to finish 13th.

MEN'S TRACK - Junior Nic Bowens (Meridian, Idaho) finished 17th in the semifinals of the 100m at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Finals last weekend with a time of 10.27, missing out on second-team All-America honors by 0.02 seconds.
