HONORABLE MENTION ALL-BIG WEST (2001)
USU THIS SEASON: Is the most versatile attacker on the team... Will once again see a lot of sets coming her way this season... Despite being a little undersized in the Big West Conference she has proven to be one of the best middle blockers in the leauge due to her great physical condition and athletic ability... Will need to provide solid leadership this season.
2001 SEASON (SO.): Started all but one match for Utah State in her first season at the division I level... Appeared in 110 games on the season and was named honorable mention all-Big West... Finished second on the team with 361 kills which ranks 10th all-time at USU for kills in a single-season... Hit .228 during the year and averaged 3.28 kills per game... Also notched 28 assists and 19 service aces to go along with 216 digs and 106 total blocks... Ranked second on the team in kills and blocks and fifth in digs... Best match of the season came against Cincinnati on Sept. 7 when she posted career-highs in kills (25) and attacks (56)... Had a career-high 14 digs versus BYU in the first round of the 2002 NCAA Tournament... Posted a career-high seven block assists against Pacific on Oct. 11 in Logan... Best offensive match of the season came on Nov. 3 versus UC Riverside when she hit .600 (13-1-20)... Recorded 10 or more kills 20 times during the season and notched 10-plus digs in a match on five separate occasions.
PREVIOUS SCHOOL: Named a junior college All-American in her first season at Salt Lake Community College, finishing third in the nation with 537 kills, averaging 4.51 kills per game... Set a new SLCC single-season record for digs with 322 and her 537 kills ranks second all-time... Hit .249 on the season with 69 total blocks.
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: A three-year letterwinner at Mountain Crest High School earning first-team all-state honors her junior and senior seasons... Named the Logan Herald Journal Player of the Year her senior year... Led her team to a second-place finish in the state championship as a sophomore, a first-place finish as a junior, and a third-place finish as a senior... Her team won regional championships during her sophomore and senior seasons.
PERSONAL: Born May 28, 1982 in Logan, Utah... One of three children of Perry and Carol Cartwright... A family and consumer science major.
