LOGAN, Utah - Senior Zuzana Cernianska (Prague, Czech Republic) recorded a match-high 24 kills to go along with a team-high 15 digs to lead Utah State's women's volleyball team to a four-game win (24-30, 30-24, 30-25, 35-33) at Weber State on Tuesday night. With the victory USU snaps a four-match losing streak and improves to 5-4 on the season, while Weber State falls to 4-4 on the year with the loss.
Utah State has now won seven straight matches against Weber State and improved to 28-18 all-time against the Wildcats which includes a 10-8 record in Ogden.
Redshirt sophomore Beth Hodge (Broken Arrow, Okla.) added 17 kills and 13 digs for Utah State, while senior Erin Graybill (Sandy, Utah) had 11 kills and six block assists while hitting a team-high .318.
Weber State was led by Leah Burmeister who notched 18 kills and 14 digs, while Keelee Kap had a match-high 17 digs and Brittney Bisaillon had a match-high 13 blocks.
As a team, Utah State hit .189 with 72 kills and 35 errors, while Weber State hit .152 with 60 kills and 33 errors. Both teams played solid defense as USU notched 72 digs and 14 team blocks as compared to 70 digs and 17 team blocks for the Wildcats. Both teams also had 11 service aces in the match, while WSU recorded five service aces to USU's zero.
Utah State will return to action this weekend as it participates in the 2005 Stanford Invitational against third-ranked Stanford, 23rd-ranked St. Mary's and 24th-ranked UC Santa Barbara.
